I never tire of seeing this thing. I work at East Midlands Airport and have seen this thing on and off for 20 years. (Along with its bigger sister, the An-225) They still fascinate me.
Incredible how the wings works flexening. When the aircraft is on the floor, the fuselaje support the wings wich "fall" making an inverted dihedral, but as soon the plane lift on, the weights inverts and the wings support the fuselaje and flexen making a "straight row" . Awesome how the material works...
I watched every second, without even blinking !! It's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen !! Privilege of those who had the opportunity to record such incredible images!
One of those took off over my house at about 3,000 feet near Manchester Airport and we thought it was thunder or something. Much louder than a lot of other planes, an absolute beast to see fly.
one passed 900 ft over me, i thought it was a crj because of the initial howling sound, but it got louder and more metallic and i looked and realized it was not a crj at all
Wonderful sound indeed! Thank you for uploading this wonderful video. I was very fortunate to see (and hear) a Volga-Dnepr Airlines An-124 depart from BWI on two separate occasions. An absolutely amazing sight to see these behemoths rotate and take to the air with their four Ivchenko-Progress turbofans singing away. It’s an experience I’ll never forget.
I've seen a million AN124 videos... none of which captured the thunders and screams of the takeoff (as heard in real life) anywhere NEAR as good as this video. Awesome job.
Agree, 2 days ago I just heard (for the first time in my life) the sweet sound of the roaring engines of this immense bird... Never expected it to be as orgasmic as it was!
i was able to go inside one of these about 20 years ago when they used it to haul garbage trucks from Minneapolis to Sarajevo. I seem to remember they loaded six trucks and a number of dumpsters. Used a Garmin GPS for navigation. The crew were a nice group.
горжусь этим самолетом!!горжусь той большой страной страной, в которой этот самолет был сделан!! proud of this plane !! proud of that big country of the country in which this aircraft was made !! it shows that only by joining together we can do something important for the world!
8 days ago when our flight landed in Philadelphia, I saw this airplane being loaded up with the front nose of the airplane lifted up. then about 30 seconds later I saw an airplane just like a 747 but it didn't have the 2nd level. Im a 12 year old boy and I will never forget that experience.
Very Impressive video and from what I have read, a super cargo carrier. Putting military use aside, it would a great disaster relief aircraft which could get emergency supplies to impacted areas quickly. I know the US has chartered the 124 on numerous times and I could never understand why the US or American Cargo companies do not invest in some of these jets. You can get 2 - 3 of these jets for the cost of a 747-8 Cargo. If I ran a large cargo line, I know which ones I would buy because in private business, money plays a huge part.
I saw one flying directly over my head!! it was awesome!! I didn't have anything to record it with 😭😭😭 but it was loud! this plane is a absolute BEAST!
It was the spring of 1995 and I was sitting window side in handcuffs on a Con Air 727 taxieng around the Houston International tarmac when I see a parked Aeroflot An-124.Instantly yelling OMG! Thats a Russian An-124 Condor! and in beautiful Aeroflot colors nonetheless.Startling inmates and US. Marshalls alike I then proceed to give a quick lesson on the 124 and the Cold War and explained what a C-5 was that led to, you can clone that thing? My Love of Airplanes and History had me smiling in handcuffs on the way to Prison yelling Greatest Day Ever!!
These planes are incredibly loud. One flew over my house a moment ago, at cruising level, 30 000 ft, and I could hear it loud and clear, even with my windows closed.
Yes. Antónov headquarters are located in Kiev, Ukrainian Republic, nowadays not a SSRU component. Why planes are called Antónov? = Oleg Konstantínovich Antónov , (Оле́г Константи́нович Анто́нов) fantastic engineer and planes designer Master, who died the 4th of April, 1984 in Kiev. Since he started at work, an innumerable amount of planes of all types has gone successfully to fly all over the world.
I live in the approach path of rwys 8 &9 at IAH, and have had one of these overfly my house at 2000 ft in the approach several times. Always a thrill to see the behemouths fly over.
OOOHHHHHHHHH that sound, what I love about seeing this machine in real life is how they just turn off every light on the plane save those white beacons, it's an amazing sounding aircraft.
Great plane, apparently one of the best designs Antonov has done for the time being. Well done guys! Keep Ukraine among the best countries who can do such a nice crafted technics.
You mean older brother because the An-124 Ruslan was made before the An-225 mriya, so the An225 mriya is the small brother with a bigger body 😂😂 I hope I corrected the fact and stay safe Greetings from Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦☺️😊🤗❤️👍🇸🇦
Amazing video!!!! That is a legendary Ruslan!!! I am looking every day to see if one comes to Toronto!!! By the way look out for our new Air Canada Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners coming to Zurich in June! :) Liked :D
This plane is an absolute wonder of engineering and a work of art. Doesn't seem possible that it flies like it does... just seems to go against physics.
At 5:11 it looks like there are pull out panels on the side where windows and a door could be put in. Was this designed to be capable of configuring for passenger use?
Wikipedia: The Antonov An-124 is the world's 2nd heaviest gross weight production cargo airplane and heaviest operating cargo aircraft, behind the destroyed one-off Antonov An-225 Mriya
While I am commenting this comment, an Antonov AN124 is at my local airport. Your lucky to get the takeoff I couldn't since the plane is taking off while I am at school😭
