Thanks for the inspiration there - I was a bit hesitant to use sandpaper on my new paddle straight away, will try this. (BTW, -10 to 105 celsius is 10 below freezing and 5 above boiling.)
thanks for this. ive never been a fan of surf board wax, or sticky wax of any kind on my paddle either. i applied this to one of my paddles after our last fall season run, so prob wont get a chance to use it til next spring, but i really like the feel, not too tacky, just enough to give you a bit more grip. hell, if i like it, i may enhance the paddle index a bit like we used to do way back in ‘70’s. thanks again.
I will have to try this next time. I’ve used tennis racket grip tape with good success- used Champro brand for over a year and it held up good. Bought some cheap knock off tennis grip tape off amazon and only got maybe a month or two. Just replaced with baseball grip tape which is cushy but seems a little slippery once actually in the water. Will give it another shot but if it stays slippery like it was first time in water I may have to switch and try this electrical tape. 👍🏻
How do you like the Werner Surge? I have heard draw strokes and braces are more difficult with it, but I have not tried one. Have you reviewed the Surge in any of your videos?
Hey Wade, I was curious myself what tape you was using on your paddles. Have you ever used the brand "Burnwater fusion paddle grip tape"? If not, It's a silicon tape for paddles that's adhesive free and is designed to be wrapped onto itself. Unfortunately is kind of expensive, around $12.95 on Amazon with multi colors. I have a friend that's had good luck with them. But I'm going to try out your choice of tape to compare. Thanks for Info.
I have not heard of that but have seen several types of tape made for paddles but never tried any I always used paddle wax and hated it in the heat it actually made it worse...
I've tried the Burnwater tape. Positives: very nice grip. Negatives: pricey, very sticky if it folds onto itself, very delicate - if the tape hits a rock or somehow develops a tear, it will rip more and more. Not worth the money for how delicate it is.
Never been a fan of those edge guards I try to avoid hitting rocks as much as possible if I’m playing and hitting a lot of rocks splatting I use my AT paddle that paddle is a beast my advice is have 2 paddles one heavy beat up paddle and one two good al round paddle.
