I can totally relate to how I felt in to addiction that started at age 14 and only ended at age 40. I have been sober 8 years(2013 till current). I founded something to love more. My family. Now I strive to stay sober after praying "God help me, I can not do this on my own". Seven day's in rehab I had a incounter with God. I made a promise I will never drink alcohol again. Now it's my life commitment not to brake that promise. I pray for everyone known and unknown on this path to everlasting recovery. God bless.

Can't get enough of this video. I wish there were more. Your way that you deliver blows my mind still to this day. He is the first person to move me with a differnt story he told my class. First time I cried in 10 years it was a joyful cry behind the centre in the field for once I was happy to be alone.

One of my big issues being an addict is I'll feel a need to drink before doing something difficult. Even when I accomplished the task at hand, instead of people around me respecting my accomplishment, they pitied or despised me because I got drunk first.

He has alot of significant points. In the end of the day you can't help an addict who does not want to work on their recovery. Alot of what he is saying sounds like AA. call it what you want to call it.

if you want to truly help him, them simply show love for him whether he is using or not. Tell him you will love him regardless and do so. Show affection for him either way, and just support him and his actions in any way that you can. Addicts tend to use drugs to fill a void, to essentially replace love. When we are loved our bodies release Oxycontin, which makes us feel amazing, this happens in both the giver and receiver of love. Honestly if you show him unconditional love no matter if he is using or not, you will see a massive step in recovery. Addiction has nothing to do with free will, it isn't a sickness, it isn't a dependence, it is essentially a coping mechanism for the lack of love, whether it's due to lack of self esteem, parents not caring for them in the present or past, lack of a relationship, love them no matter what and they will use the substance less and less. The more a person feels the need to stop the use of a drug yet uses it anyway (addiction) the less they eventually love themselves, which is what spirals out of control, you need to be the love for them that they lack for themselves. This is coming from a current addict who is trying to recovery, honestly give my advice a go. I promise/can almost guarantee significant results.

There is no adrenaline rush going into addiction!! And its not a choice!!! I didn't wake up one day and say "hmm, I feel like loosing all my friends. Pushing away all my family. Spending all my money. Selling my cars and all my stuff. Loosing my job. And ultimately going down the path towards death for the next 3 years!" This really makes me mad!

Your a victim of 12 step brainwash. Or just blind. You had CHOICE all along. Grow up take responsibility. Stop the nonsense excuse how bad you lost everything.. we all have lost. Now sober and clean we CHOOSE to never use again. Your a victim of you believe you have.a disease. Ya jackass disease coward disease. Man up and stop make excuse for your behaviour. Using drugs has ALLWAYS been a choice. I see you still choose to be a victim , so chances are you relapse in and out of 12 step groups ?? I am right. Grow up and think for yourself because using and addiction is allways a choice. Such a cop out. Your a victim of disease ya sure

I think that basically deep down that all human beings are selfish and the people who try to deny this are the most dangerous. If you want to get clear of any addiction it has to be for yourself, because if you're doing it for anyone else then you're doomed to failure. Accept your selfishness and then you can move forward.

Addiction is a shame train and once on that train, the path a head gets unclear. I can see where it would be important to find purpose, but to also understand that no matter what the purpose is, it's important, more important than drinking.

The true nature of addiction is something that is intensely felt when it becomes chronic Everything becomes blurred and your own perceptions are the only ones that matter When the stigma and shame becomes intense one loses his or hers self esteem and sense of self worth Even today I find it difficult to look back because it’s hard to deal with When the thought of ones real condition becomes conscious a person can never be the same Recovery isn’t a celebration no it’s like climbing a mountain that you never scale but it’s one step and one day at a time

I thought the same thing..super happy he is doing good, successful, etc. But, sometimes, a person who is big into their own ego, that needs it to be feed, just means he possibly replaced his addiction to substances to his addiction to acceptance, popularity, being praised, adored by others, etc. Hope he keeps doing well. He does have great ideas, but it just feels weird to listen to if you have ever dealt with narcissism.
@QuinnStone
@QuinnStone 2 года назад
@@azblondi2730 I think y’all are missing the message here. And isn’t everyone switching addictions for other addictions? Working out, school, work, hobbies… don’t forget that habits/ addictions mean the exact same thing. If this guys addiction is sharing his story and how he stays sober so others can see it’s possible… than my only thought is that maybe this message wasn’t meant for you, and that’s ok. Not everyone is on the same level or same path. That’s not saying one is better than the other, we’re all just on different journeys. 🥰
@misssblissxxx
@misssblissxxx Год назад
I use to think the same thing until I was sent to rehab. I jumped through hoops by going to an addictions clinic and it took a few months of asking MSP, but finally they approved it. The second time I went 3 years later, I maxed out my visa to go because my life is worth more than 20k. My visa is still maxed out and that was last summer, but I’m alive. There is no luxury when it comes to rehab, you just have to choose what is important.
