Great video! What happens if I want to do sort of the opposite, and instead of having only 3 measures/bars on one line, I want to have 4. How do I get the bars that follow back up to that previous line? Please let me know if the way I've phrased y question makes sense! I'd be happy to email you a screenshot of what I'm trying to do. Thanks in advance, good sir!
I figured it out! First I had to highlight the measure/bar where it was sending bars to a new line, then I clicked the hamburger symbol at the top left and went to Layout, then clicked "Keep with next". I think it was doing this because I must have, at some point, told the score to send measures to the next line (like a page/line break) because I was trying to figure out what Phil shows us in this video. Still new at this.. hope someone finds this helpful.
@@Maigeru sorry for my tardy response - we're teaching our music classes in lockdown in Australia and I don't have much spare time. I only just saw this response. Great work - that's very helpful - I made this video to answer your question - there's a bit more about formatting in this - like when you want to make a conductors score etc ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5L1J0viUkGk.html
Hi @gracehopkins7649 I'll try - sometimes, bars in Noteflight don;t always go where I want either. This is because Noteflight automatically places bars according to how many notes are in the bar. For example, if you have a simple melody using quarter notes and 8th notes, then it will most likely go where you want but if you have a complex drum chart with 16th note fills, then Noteflight will move it up or down according to which stave it will fit on. The best solution is to press on the "formatting" button on the top menu - then select the tab for "sizing" and move the note size down a bit. This will enable more bars to fit on each stave. Hope this helps. I might get around to making another video about this soon.
Hi @Tybreelo The "Return" key is an Apple mac thing but I use PC - Windows as well for my Recording workstation and on PC, just use the "Enter" key - same thing - it will do the same job.
@@PhilRookemusic-educator i use windows and i press enter since i do not have return button but it doesn't work for me. it just take up the entire line and push the rest into the next line
I had no troubles adding 6 measures. However, if you were to put a lot of notes in a bar - say semiquavers (16th notes) then Noteflight will automatically spread the bars out.
@Tarciooo I just made this video showing how to add more bars per line. However, if you're adding lots of 1/16 notes or 1/32 notes, Noteflight will automatically move the bars down. You can change the size of the notes for more complex scores - this shows you how. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5L1J0viUkGk.html
Hi Mads, this video was made on a Mac. It will work on Windows or Mac. It depends on which bar you highlight as to what will move onto the next line. I made another very short video for you. I hope this helps. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dzgh_C1KdMs.html
Unless you highlight the actual barline then nothing will happen - you see where I click exactly on the barline and the barline turns orange? If you do not click exactly on the barline, then it doesn't not turn orange, then nothing will happen. You need to click exactly on the barline and it will turn orange - then hit return.
