Jenny, I am in my seventies and through the magic of your videos, you have taught me how to make a quilt…who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks. As I have watched your videos I feel like I’m spending time with a friend. Thank You!
Super new to the quilting world just wanted to tell you thank you for taking time to put theses videos out they've helped me so much! I even got my husband ( non quilter+ a USMC) Watching with me. Along with our 4 yr old grandson. Who says to me "Nanny make me that !" So I've been trying lol
Jenny, Thank you so much for your quilting tutorials. I was brand new to quilting and you have helped me so much! I love your positive personality as well as your excellent instructions. I am working on my fourth quilt. I never dreamed that I could do this.
Now I know how to measure, cut and sew on a border. Thank you so much for demystifying everything. Your beautiful personality shines through. Thank you 🌸🇦🇺
Jenny, you have helped me so much by watching your videos. I love watching all the steps of making quilts. Sometimes I have to watch several times to make sure I am doing the steps just like they should be. You make machine quilting so easy . All the little steps to get to the finished quilt are so well explained by you. Keep making tutorials Jenny. We love you from KY!!
I have to say, you are the sweetest woman, and the best instructor! I started quilting this past fall and you have really helped me to learn - in my living room! Thanks so much :)
This tutorial is exactly what I am looking for. The instructions are so easy to follow. I am making a t shirts blanket and I want to add border to the top piece before I sew the fleece and top together. BTW, I love your iron, the color. Thank you!
Thank you for the SIMPLE and BASIC tutorial. I'm subscribed to your normal channel. It's great for aspirational ideas, but I LOVE this beginner channel. It's right where I am and makes it easier.
Also, thank you for dealing with measuring on a smaller surface. Some of us live in places where their either isn't enough space for a big mat, or we can't afford a larger mat so we have to work with the smaller mats. Thanks for showing that this CAN be done, even if it is a hassle. It's more true-to-life for us apartment-dwellers who like quilting.
Thank you for your clear instructions Jenny. I know this is an older video, but I’m working on my second quilt top and I need to add some borders. I’m 73 and just now learning to quilt. I really love it. I just straight line quilt right now. I’m on a tight budget so I can’t send it to a longarm. I really enjoy your videos. Wish I was closer. I would love to visit your store. I’m in Texas.❤️
Thank you for showing such a basic thing as using a rotary cutter, I was not sure how to use mine, but will now try. I think my next quilt be much more efficient!
Bless you for your helpful tutorials! I was feeling lost when I came here but after watching the video, I think maybe I can move forward. I'm sure I'll need to watch the video a couple more times though :)
Saw Jenny in Ocala Fl. in March! You have taught me a lot! It is nice to know that I can go to a video for help too! I am finishing a Stack And Flip Quilt but needed help with my calculating borders. Thanks for all your inspiration!
Thanks for your ver practible tutorials. I am still Beginner and still i cant make it perfect like you. I Made some wonderful quillts now. I am from germany i can never get the same fabriks but i Made 2 wonderful Dudes big Sta r and Heart quillt. And i tried sone others in small versions. Your the best teacher. Thanks
Jenny.... I just want to thank you for all the very educational and informative tutorials you do. Boy you sure make quilting look so easy... 🙂 I am attempting to make my first quilt; a simple quilt with square blocks and a border that I will QAYG. There are 2 things that I haven’t been able to clarify and was hoping you could help. Stitch length and thread weight. What stitch length should be used when piecing, adding the border, quilting the top, and binding? What thread weight should be used for those as well. If you’ve done a tutorial already could you please link it here. Thank you in advance.... Gina
Is it just a personal preference to sew the borders on with the quilt on bottom or on top..thought you needed turquoise T on top so you can see and navigate the seams on the quilt ???
My OCD is getting the best of me watching this video lol. When I lay My ruler down horizontal and vertical lines have to match up identical or I go insane. Thank you for the video!
Funny. I couldn't figure out what was different about the way you cut and the way I cut then I realized you are left handed. It looks so different. Maybe for right handed quilters you could demonstrate how we would have to do it. There is a difference that beginners might not figure out. Otherwise I dearly love everything about Jenny's tutorials and the business in general.
watch those fingers I have cut mine 2 times, once to the bone and the other cut the tip off, its just now getting better I had to go to ER it would not stop bleeding it was awful, I now have one of those suction things on top to hold to. I need my fingers
In this kit you should have enough for the borders as long as it was cut correctly. If you need more border fabric because your borders aren't long enough you can always piece more together.
So I am just beginning to quilt and have made a lap size quilt for my daughter. The Office theme! I am watching videos on how to attach the border, and everyone says to measure, cut and sew on the sides. Why can’t I measure slightly longer, sew on the sides and trim afterwards?
Thanks for the video. It’s very helpful. I was wondering if you have one for a larger quilt size as well. I’m just completing my 1st ever one (your stacks tutorial) & have the fabric but unsure how to make the 5” border with just the yard & half of fabric. Any suggestions?
I have seen a few videos where the longer of the quilt top or border is sewn with that on the downside bc the feed dogs help take up the slack bc they feed the bottom fabric faster than the top fabric feeds. Have you had that experience or what is your opinion on that?
I have been doing small projects, but I don't know how to finish an inner binding does it overlap at the intersection. Please explain I'm a member of the club.
Hi Dj! Not everyone is comfortable quilting the quilt on their machine, so this is a great way to finish it without having to do that part yourself. :)
DJ Shanas I agree. What’s the point if someone else is going to do the quilting? Anyone can make a quilt top. I couldn’t say I made a quilt if I had someone else do the quilting.
