Hey, if you forget to flip your bail when you tie onto the spool. Don't cut and start over. Just take the spool off, flip the bail over, and put the spool back on!

Great tip Ty. I love my 2500 Clash. I also own a 2000. But use my 2500 more for inshore.

I go ahead and put a wrap of electrical tape after I've made a few passes, knotted up with the connection to the knurling. Most knurling I've seen can still have your braid slip but if you use one pass of electrical tape to tape the knot after you made a pass our two your good to go

i usually use another reel(bigger size and a few spare spools) as a tool for adding tension with its drag... and for the penn clash some fixing on the linelay is needed(with the supplied washers) so need to spool the line back and fourt a few times :(

Mono or braid, I have always used the standard of 1/8th of an inch from the edge. Seems to work

Thanks Tye for this video. I have a couple of Gulf trips coming up and one is to Pensacola and I am getting ready. I just received my Penn Fierce II 3000. It looks a little too little too me compared to my Fierce 6000. I did not know that the 3000 and I am sure that the 6000 does also has the grab strip on the spool so that braid can be tied directly to the spool. I now have to get some braid and a nice rod to complete the outfit. I have about $75.00 to put into a rod. What length and action do you recommend. I was thinking a 7 foot, med fast action rod. Like how they make that crimp now! Used to put a piece of tape on mine to stop slippage. Off topic question? Minimalist kayak fishing! See kayaks now that have more gear on them than my 20' skiff! How minimal do y'all go? How what to carry? Ideas?

I start my line a bit different I just make a big loop and pass the line through it about 8 times, like a surgeons knot with on line I put it over the spool and cinch it down till the tag line is almost gone and states reeling. It work everytime with or without the rubber on the spool and if for some saw Some the fish takes all your line it will come off under pressure. Face it you get down that far and the fish is still pulling it's going to break the line or your going to have to cut it before it takes you and the reel over. It makes it way easier to get the line off when your respooling it too. For baitcasters I stick my line in the hole on the spool if provided or I do the same as for spinning. Try it out, let me know what you think.

Ty what i do is if their is no gripper on the reel i will tie a not but put a small piece of electical tape on it to keep it from sliding probably a inch long just enough to hold it from spinning.

I say the same thing . Everyone wants to 20 and 30 braid. I us 10 and 15 , can cast a mile.

Anglers all these people are full of it telling you that you can't add braid on something else on first that is a lie when I lay my braid backing I tie a slip knot around the spool then take a small piece of tape on that knot and never had and any problems the line goes on whether it a spinner or baitcaster to make yourself a better angler stop listening to these guys and 🌟 putting your hands forth to learn we all know that our forefathers caught fish without all this nonsense just like with this gotta have braid and flurocarbon to catch donkey's asked them what our forefathers caught them with before braid or flurocarbon I want to know what has changed I already know what it is these so called fishermen today looks to the technology rather than the skills of their fore father's and I use the technique everyday and I don't need no damn braid or flurocarbon to defeat my fish I use mono to the accasion if plundering heavy cover I use a thicker poundage me personally use 30 to 50lb line and have drugged many donkey's out after properly setting my drag right now my reels are spooled with that Walmart omniflex line for 1.97 cent these fishermen's today I laugh at them just as the hunters today has to use a gun to kill a deer knowing that animal don't stand a chance man if our forefathers would have had to wait until braid and flurocarbon was invented we would have starved off I challenge any so call fisherman today to challenge themselves by catching fish with what the ancestors used I know nothing one will respond but I,am waiting use mono to complete the task
