Hi😊 I bought my Land Cruiser almost year ago, 4.2 TD 2001r. 50th anniversary version . Today I install my cabin filter. Big thanks to You for this great movie 👍👍🍻🍻 greatings from Poland 👍👍
I did this mod on my 04 about 6 years ago. I am pretty sure Toyota technically never put air filters in any year of the LC. The early models such as your’s had the same cover as the LX but Toyota didn’t put an air filter in them from the factory and didn’t market the vehicle as having a cabin filter. My guess is they used the cabin air filter as an upmarket feature of the LX. It does surprise me that they eventually went to the trouble and expense of making a second cover without the door for the LC. Also, some people, to save money, cut a door in the closed cover and seal it with silicone after inserting the filters.
Im wondering if they only added them in the LCs with gold badges for some reason. I have a 00 with gold badges just like the uploader and when I checked to see if I had the slot there was no filter in it
Thanks so much for the video. I recently completed this upgrade to my 2001 LC. Immediately after I had a water leak on the passenger side Under the cooler cover. After checking the IH8MUD forum, I ordered a new gasket from the dealer. Toyota part 88891-60040. Removed old worn out gasket and problem solved. It is an inexpensive part that I recommend changing if doing this upgrade.
Honestly would love to do this, but that cut on your hand really makes me wanna choose to rather die slowly from unfiltered air while sitting in the car. XD
It is interesting that there wasn't much gunk in there. That tells me it had to be a newer design. In any case, I will be ordering and installing this mod on my 07.
Awesome video buddy, a 2007 lexus lx470 would be the best choice for you in case you update, especially crystal white exterior and ivory interior. I wished Toyota added a cool box and xenon high beams for u.s market like we have here in the middle east.
Hi I've recently bought my HDJ100 4.2 2007 TD and doesn't has cover for AC filters, I'm going to straight ahead of this because really needed here en Costa Rica. Regards.
Hi and Thanks for the video! very helpful! Would you please, share the link for the panel retrofit door? I found the cover and filter link but the door one is missing. Thanks!
Got a 98 RV. Has the factory hole and door but no filters. Those long filters wont fit as the recess is too shallow. RV model is in between barn door wagon and GXL. Has fulltime 4wd central locking and big centre bin.
Hmmm I dont remember having that there at all - but I do remember water down there on the floor on right-ish side. It dripping there, on the cables xD - which is great! - When it rains... could it be that it's leaking? condensation etc
@@chowcares AC is fine, when car sits level and it rains, there is small pool of water in the footwell afterwards. I've failed to locate where is it from, all I know is that it's cascading down the cables. I was unable to replicate by hosing it down with a garden hose.
Hi and thanks for an excellent video. We have a 2004 VX LTD which is the top of the line model here in New Zealand. Our one does not have the cabin filters either which was a surprise. Our vehicle is right hand drive, would you know if the parts are common to RHD and LHD vehicles? Often parts are a mirror image of each other between the two and will not interchange.
I wonder if since the Land Cruisers were imported from Japan they didn’t wanna risk putting something like an air filter in before a sea voyage or something🤔 Then maybe US Dealers just put in the engine filter and assumed that was it! My 2000 Land Cruiser has the door for the air filter, new filters going in tomorrow!
@@chowcares Yes! From what I’ve read, Car manufacturers really started adding the Cabin filters to vehicles around 2000. So it was probably a design feature Toyota was developing the use for initially but hadn’t fully tested it yet or maybe didn’t fully understand. It came at a demand by consumers for cleaner air lol. I’m just glad mine has the little filter door and the filters arrive tomorrow from Amazon XD
@@chowcares UPDATE: MINE ALREADY HAD OLD FILTERS IN IT! \ö/ I guess my uncle before me learned how to install them or he got upsold somewhere and they figured it out lol. Clean ones in!
