Today we continue the journey of my UNS 60U aquascape, as we add details to enhance the impact of the layout. At just over two weeks old, this aquascape is developing nicely. I'm seeing really nice growth in the Helanthium tennelum, as well as the Microsorum. I've had a few of the crypts melt back, but that's to be expected. Now it's time to add some details to begin enhancing the layout as the plants grow in!
We'll start by discussing three reasons why I like to wait a couple weeks before adding the first fine details to a planted aquascape. Next we'll take a trip over to the kitchen sink and I'll show you how to scrub bio-film and algae off of old hardscape. After that, I'll show you how I glue bucephalandra to small pieces of boutique seiryu stone. Once all of that prep is done, we'll head over to the tank and add some fine pieces of Pacific wood, as well as the seiryu stone with the newly glued buce.
Adding details is a tricky process that requires a developed eye and experience. So over the weeks, as the plants grow in, I'll be careful to make sure the details aren't overshadowed by the carpeting plants. It's really important to check your aquascape regularly as it develops and make sure the individual elements are serving the overall composition and experience.
