I know what you say about drilling a pilot hole. The self tapping screws tend to dance around, especially when drilling in an awkward position. Drilling a pilot hole is a great solution. I solved the issue by putting the jack in place and raising it so it is actually where I wanted it and then using the mounting holes as a position guide. But having said that, I used the drill bit that came with my jacks, because the screws they provided were NOT self tapping. Your videos are always so good. I am so jealous.
Is there a reason you turned the jack sideways to mount on a cross beam? Why not mount on the metal parallel to outside? That is the way the back 2 are done.
