Some tuners require a battery tender. Make sure you hook up your bike so you don’t run your battery down. Tuners have to be paired with the vehicle, car or bike. Once your connected agree to the terms then the update process can begin. Download the base tune to the tuner, from that point you can tune off of the base tune and the pairing process is done. I have the FP4 tuner on my Sporty. I had to go through the same nonsense. It wasn’t very intuitive. You should be able to monitor everything on your bud display. The FP4 utilizes my phone. Same concept. Play with the auto tune mode, ride your bike for about about 45 min to an hour, the auto tune will map a tune based on how your ride. Then download the tune. Really cool perk.
