VFDs are awesome little(and sometimes not so little) devices. But one VERY important thing to remember, unlike changing belts/gears to slow down the spindle, which ups the torque, the VFD slows the motor by lowering the frequency AND voltage. This causes the motor to have LESS torque.
hey brother great vid! Im buying a large (1325) cnc machine from alibaba that has a 9kw spindle, 7.5kw vac table and 4 750w servos. also has a pretty beefy dust collector. Do they make a VFD that will run something like that off 220v? The lady Im dealing with is asking me if I want it set up for 1 phase or 3 phase and recommends 3 phase. My electrician tells me it will be a lot cheaper to do 220v single phase for now and we can upgrade if necessary. Im so confused!
