Adding MORE TANKS to my Aquarium Rack System

I recently set up a simple aquarium rack in my garage for breeding my African Cichlids and quarantining fish. Recently I have decided I want to try setting up a Florida Biotope scape for my Mollie, and I finally got the 4ft tank I need for it!

Another good video. You never disappoint. The rack looks great. I would put the impeller out of the filter and check for sand. The pickup tube is really close to the bottom and could have picked up a grain or two.

You may want to raise the HOB (Hang On the Back) filter intake higher so that it does not suck up any sand. The pre-filter is porous enough for sand to pass through it.

I hate the clipping of ears for Dobies and other breeds. Takes away the beauty of their heads. Still not used to Dobies with tails but I'm getting used to it. Is it been banned in Aussie same as NZ?

You are well on you way, Kaity! The tanks look great! Let me share what I learned: "Nature abhors a vacuum." Every time I get rid of stuff and turn around, all kinds of other stuff has seemed to magically appeared tanken. It seems like you can hear that big sucking sound and swish, it's all back. 🙂I almost have to lock doors so that won't happen! All in good fun. 🙂 Anyway, everything looks fantastic. Kaity heads up you are fully correct about aqua-soils leaching ammonia depending on product 3-5 days, however if at some point you would like shrimps or anything delicate like them wait for the soil to be around 3-6 months old depending on how much you have used.. great update take care..

I love you Kaity 😆 You show all the mistakes and problems that we ALL encounter as fish keepers. Many other channels just make it look like they are experts and never make mistakes. I make heaps of mistakes but somehow, usually my fish survive. Your dad is like many dads in Bunnings, I don’t have a dad but my husband is a dad, and approaching 60 and he absolutely is like your dad. He’s great with things I need made, but hates shopping, but at Bunnings, he’s on a mission. Honestly I think he goes to Bunnings for the sausages most of the time 😂

Awesome video! The rack system is really coming along well, bet you're really pleased with it 😀🐟🐠 Like the idea of putting the matting underneath it and then waterproofing that, probably should've done that with my aquariums. Tropica is really good aquasoil, that's what I use in my aquariums, just be careful on the pH however as it can lower it a bit. Bagged a bargain with that aquarium too, can't wait to see what you do with that one! Pretty cool seeing your dog too, how long did it take to train them?

I thought speckles was spoiled last week, now getting a 4ft tank upgrade :D The tropica aqua soil is very good although it has a tendency to mix into the sand over time so careful if you will have fish that will uproot plants or dig. Sometimes people put the soil in mesh bags so it wont mix and the roots can stell get into it. Looking great tho

What do you think of the Tidal HOBs? I have just put a 75 on one 4 foot tank and a 55 on another in conjunction with a small internal filter and my water is perfect 1 week in.

You are getting the rack quite setup. You're going to have to put the rug down after you clean up and stick a couch out there so you can sit and watch them. Instead of a Man-cave a Fish-cave. I was worried that even with the board on the shelves that they were going to bow, but they seem to be doing good and staying rigid. I don't know if I can handle you getting into all of these plants. It's so not like you. If you're not careful you might get a green thumb. 😁😛

Hey Kaity just a quick question, My Niece was wondering what type of Bird you have, Is it a Parakeet as in Peach Face type, We have Birds but large Cockatoo Type including Red Tailed & White Tailed Blacks and Sulphur Crested, Major Mitchells etc. Cool in Gatton this morning but really nice after the rain on Saturday. Hello! Yes I do! I haven't done it in a while, but you replace the entire casing not just the bulb. The only thing that you keep is the pump and the on/off switch that comes with it

Probably a rental, so you get inspections every so often. Or they inspect just before you leave.

@@juliaforsyth8332 Thank you. I had no idea that someone could conduct periodic inspections inside homes while they are being occupied 😮 I didn't know it could be legal. I have relatives who own rental properties, but they always conduct these inspections after the tenants have moved out and there's nothing left inside the houses. In case of damages, the security deposit that tenants initially made for any damages is not refunded.

I normally go for the unicorn pool filter sand because it's so clean. There is a tan coloured substrate I got from Bunnings once before but it was sooooo dirty

I think it is normally for absorbing sound but can be used as a pin board too. I'm just using it for the colour and to soften the weight of the glass on the wood

Sorry Kaity, but just from a common sense point of view, wouldn’t it be better to have the heaviest tank at the bottom and the smaller ones up top. Not so top heavy.?
