First thing you guys should be doing before you even touch the air bag is to disconnect the battery. Once disconnected tap the brakes until you no longer see your taillights workings to dispurse any leftover electricity. After removing the airbag set it FACE UP so you can see the Mazda logo. That way if it explodes somehow, it won’t be alot worse by flying around!!!
Just knocked it out. A little over thirty seven minutes from start to finish thanks to you. BTW, you were right, pushing the wires into the connector was by far the hardest part.
I just did the same install myself following your video. I made a couple mistakes, one being not putting the pins in the right orientation and two somehow seated the airbag wrong causing a malfunction. Fixed both and I’m rock solid. Advice so you new installers don’t make the same mistake I did. After opening to box for the pins, notice how the pins each have teeth on one side. Make sure those teeth sit into the box in the right direction, where the teeth go into the groove. If correct, you’ll be able to easily slide the pins into the groove with your fingers. Remove them if there’s resistance and try again.

Standard issue steel toed flip flops? ...other markets get stuff the US/CAN don't...not sure why, but happens all the time. VW/AUDI cars are also notorious for having cool features in Europe and Asia, but not in the US. Sometimes it is just a matter of coding in the ECU/comfort module, other times it's entire parts (lights for example)
Great vid! wanted to ask does the car accept upshifts and downshifts from the paddle shifters when you're in 'D' or do you have to move the lever over to '-M+' before it will accept inputs?
Hi there, thanks for the video. Do you happen to have any pictures of how the ground wires are combined? I'm making my own harness and I'm just needing to see how the ground is shared between the two sides. For anyone in the future, these connectors are called TE 174056-2. They can be purchased from a variety of US sites. I got mine within three days.

Hey this might be a tad late for you to reply, but the part number you listed doesn't seem to match. It's a 2 pin connector. Do you happen to have the right 14 pin part number? And maybe the contact lance part number? Would help me out a ton!
Have you seen any aluminum paddles anywhere? I'm eyeing a Turbo 3 for later this month and I wish it had higher quality paddles on that trim. Great vid.
on that mikstore site there are some aluminum paddle extensions you can get that clip onto the stock plastic ones. Oh that. No I hadn't planned on getting one. I'd love to have a wheel like that in the Miata or the speed6 but I feel like it might look a little out of place in this vehicle
@@mewil591 you ever do the carbon steering wheel? I would consider (not doing it) last thing you need is carbon fiber shards everywhere to include your face in case if a wreck..but hey...its your car.
in theory only the parts you affected. The ECU and transmission could be argued to be affected but you can also have a counter argument. By most shops wont either notice or either care about it.
