Laura! I did it, I just heard that after many years of struggle, I am going to graduate! It sounds strange maybe, but your videos were such a respite every day. When I felt low and thought that I couldn't go on, this channel was a safe space. Thank you Laura and Aaron!

I saved up pallets the week after that video of Laura installing that walk way went out and installed my own .. its no where near as long and winding as Laura's but I love it ..adds that touch of whimsy and nobody comments on the decking that was a pain to install and cost a fortune,, they all comment on the pallet path haha. I think that chicken coup area is my favourite also. She always has it looking amazing

Hi Laura. Love watching you every day from Canberra Australia, your garden is so beautiful and even though I've been gardening for 37 years or more I learn so much from your videos, thanks for sharing your knowledge and inspiration with us all. I love the stone, can't wait to see it go down. Perhaps some of the brown stone could be used as you step out of the cut flower shed, like a small patio area I guess you could call it, not big, just more of a landing than anything. Thanks again for sharing your journey.

@@ivytippit6181 it's hard to tell without more information, but maybe all is not lost. I got a single phlox stem plus roots from Grandma's garden and left it unplanned for the entire summer. In the fall I stuck it in a pot and left it until the following Spring. Finally I remembered mid-summer and it showed some growth. I planted it in the garden that Fall, and it has been growing better and better each year. I have even split it several times to spread it around the garden.

I tried the poppy seed planting in February, just threw the seeds down on top of the snow in my rose circle garden. Then forgot about them. Saw a little growth this spring and thought, huh that's a funny looking weed! Almost pulled them out but remembered that's where I threw the seeds. They are blooming their heads off and so pretty! They are corn poppies, and read they are the original Flanders Field poppies. Thank you so much for the idea!! Love them so much!!

Laura mentioned so many plants she doesn't have at the new house...(black swan birch, etc) and I'd love to get her reaction to rewatching this tour and remembering old plants...Aaron's reaction too would be funny about the filming differences.

Old stories about the Calycanthus are that they were planted near outdoor privies because they perfumed the area. I have two and they are incredible. I'm in zone 5. One is a red, not sure of the variety, the other is yellow flowers w/citrus smell called Athens. Part sun/part shade and pretty protected. Our soil is acidic.

That’s the thing that usda zones don’t tell you. They tell you how cold it gets, but not how HOT it gets, and how that affects what you can grow well. I live in a zone 6 also, but it is much milder, and hardly ever drought conditions. I notice things grown here, with zero problems and attention, give other gardeners I watch trouble in the heat. I don’t have irrigation for my plants, but I just hose water every 2 days if it hasn’t rained. If it has rained in those two days, I don’t water at all unless something looks like it needs it. It is so interesting watching the differences in gardening, even in the same zones. Your plants look lovely. Thanks for sharing! Your videos are the highlight of my mornings. ❤️

While hot, crayon box orange and an annual, I like "Mexian sunflower" or Tithonia for filling a space reasonably fuss-free. I think you can get it in additional colors now too. I usually start it from seed and in some sort of a seed starting tray/ container until about 4"-6" high when planting in the heat of the summer.

Another great video! Loving the transitions. The music is always so calming and never distracts. I have always wanted a Sweet Shrub and I feel inspired now to seek one out. Unsure where I will plant it! LOL. Laura's "Astible shame" made me think that would be a great idea for a video when projects slow down. Viewers could send in photos of their disasters and issues. We could all then commiserate. Perhaps even a video where people send in their photos of garden spots looking for advice on what to plant. As always, your videos bring a bright spot to my day and really inspire me to venture out on these summer days when the humidity and heat are so oppressive., As my husband is fond of saying, you are my best imaginary friend. I've had an Aphrodite Calycanthus and it is lovely. It actually is in more shade.

My mother and all of her friends had sweet shrubs in their garden. Love the smell on a hot summer afternoon. So many memories of watching sunsets, catching lightning bugs and smelling the sweet shrub. I think I’m planting that next. Thank you for reminding me how much I love this plant ! Always enjoy your videos even if I can’t plant some things here in the Deep South.

I recognized that plant too. I found in a big box store garden center this year and added to my garden.

Sometimes plants are released early in what’s called a “professional release” to some places, but not as widely available as the following years. I found it at Home Depot too.

I threw my poppy seeds out when you did. I forgot about them and I think I pulled them up when I was weeding. I had two come up though, I guess I missed those. I'm going to do it again and mark them this year!

I’m excited for the sweetshrub. It’s a plant I’ve been considering, but it’s not a common choice for gardeners, so I haven’t been able to see others grow it & learn about its pros & cons. Your summers are usually similar to ours in my 9b yard that has a high desert-like spring/summer climate. (I’ve been jealous of your unusually long, mild spring!)So, I’m looking forward to your updates on this plant & learning more about it!
