Adding detail to vehicles can rapidly transform a scene from good to AWESOME! It’s amazing how much adding some dirt and putting a few crates or similar details on the back of vehicles makes to a scene.

In this tutorial I’ll show you the steps I took to create a fantastic looking detail that you can add to any scene and it will make a great improvement. It’s actually a lot easier than it looks to get really good results.
The model I’m using is a HO scale Ford Flatbed Truck and I’ve added it to my diorama that I made in Realistic Scenery Volume 6, the crates were made with scale strip wood. If you’d like to download the template I used to build the crates just visit the downloads section of my website:

Don’t forget to check out Micro-Mark as well, that is where I got my ‘Chop-It’ that I use for many different projects. If you use the promo code ‘BOULDER’ you will save 10% of your total order at the checkout.
Stay tuned for a list of materials as it will be added over the next few days.

Amazing. I would not be surprised if he said "I wanted to simulate a worn outer tie rod end on the truck...." or "To add a bit of realism this truck's carburetor is set a little rich because he can only get low octane gasoline"

The truck driver got a major plastic surgery, a tummy tuck, and a back lift. You're a true miniature plastic surgeon. Great job Luke.

Your models are absolutely amazing. I have just sat for 2 hours watching some of them without realising the time. Your attention to detail is amazing. Thank you for sharing your skills and information - I've really learned so much.

I get so wrapped up in watching the process that the time flies by. At the end of the video I couldn't believe I had just watched 18 minutes, it felt like half that. Great content Luke, I look forward to your next upload!

I used to love modeling when I was younger so there are two sides to me when I watch a video like this; one side says i can't believe the obsessive level of detail on a project like this- and the other side of me thinks that is why I loved modeling so much and wants to get back into it! Thank you for this great inspirational video, I am about to make the red button white!

Hey Luke. This reminded me of building model cars when I was a kid. Good times. I don’t think I ever did as nice of a job as you do. One thing I did was heat the tire and push down on the wheel to put a natural belly in the tire. Or give it a full flat. Made it seem like the tire was actually holding up the weigh of the vehicle.
