one thing that seems to be neglected to mention is Snip seems to only work with the Spotify app, not the browser version. thanks for the tips and videos
To those watching this video have read this comment, not all music on Spotify is copyright, there are remixers like Qumu where if you play any of their songs, they aren't protected by copyright at all. So if it is a remix of someone's original work, you can play that all day long on your stream and you'll be fine.
first method used to work but nowadays it gets frozen on the song playing unless im tabbed into spotify on my other monitor. any workaround? (i use streamlabs obs)
Welp, I'm pretty tech savvy, butt this isn't running. I followed the instructions for snip because I am currently using the first method but don't want to anymore and want a transparent one but when I click on the snip.exe,....nada. Nothing happens. Idk what is goin on. but it's annoying. *sighs* back to the drawying board. :( I've also run as administrator and still not opening. Idk. I'm frustrated. it's been one of those days. :(
window capture method sucks because you have to keep the window open on your monitor in order for it to keep updating, so you have to have a dedicated monitor just for the window capture one.
its not that bad tbh. lets say you have spotify on your main monitor it will keep displaying it even when you have a game open that is also running on the main monitor. it works pretty well. only thing i find weird is that everytime i restart my pc i need to manually set the source again. idk why that is a thing but i guess its just me being dumb
All you have to do is just not minimize it, if you instead just have a tab over it, it still works, for example open spotify on 2nd monitor then put obs over it
i kinda wanna have the last method but uh when it shows on my OBS it doesn't show my currently playing song on spotify :O the 1st method works for me at least thankfully, and snip hasn't really worked for me so far :C
I don't think there is any way to speed it up, this is the delay between your Spotify app sending the track change to the pixel chat, Pixlr chat querying the album art from their gallery and sending the overlay to your OBS. I don't mind the delay, it gives viewers a chance to hear the song before identifying it. Thanks for watching.
ok, question. I usually use the window capture and it works fine, but if I open SLOBS before spotify, the window capture doesn't pick up that spotify is open so it shows, nothing. I go into edit it and spotify is not available, even though it's open and playing. So I have to remove the source and re-enter it and resize it again. Then from there if I minimize the window, it goes away in SLOBS. If I change scenes it goes away when I come back to the scene it was in. How do I rectify this?
i'm assuming you mean snip because i'm having the same issue, and i thought i figured it out but it bamboozled me i just went through all of the settings when you right click on the snip app, and enabled everything until it started working, but it only ever accurately updates a few times now, which yeah is slightly better, but its still not working most of the time idk how ppl get it to work seamlessly, but i can't get it to
I do have a question for you. For your third method, does it work for RU-vid as well? I do like how it has a command people can use which is why it drew my interest, which is why I am asking if it works for RU-vid as well. Thank you!
Overall, I do like your idea of using a window capture, very nice. I say that for those who are watching this video, you cannot minimize the Spotify window, otherwise the album art won't update in real-time. Also, by default, windows can open zip files in Explorer, you don't need to download a 3rd party app unless you need to. Overall Mad About Tutorials, great video, gave me some insight on how I want my layout to be. Thank you!
hey i've used the first method of window capture but when i tab back into my game i makes my curser invisible i can only see it on my obs not my actual screen but if i delete or hide the spotify overlay its fine any thoughts on how to fix?
anyone know how to do the first option without experiencing the annoying yellow borders around the window? Or anyone else experiencing this in general? Tried multiple methods to eliminate this but I think it's just ingrained in windows code to do this when an app is viewing a window as a safety feature. Also the drag and drop method on the 2nd method from the folder to obs doesn't work it shows a symbol like an O with a \ through it like it's unable to paste. copying and pasting manually doesn't work. Is there a way to do this through obs the correct way? What source am I suppose to create to use this? Also holy shit making these a group completely stretches this preview to infinity I can no longer even see the object, wtf is this jank thing? lol highly don't recommend making them a group it looks nothing like it does in this video. I'm going insane with this.
Question: For snip I want the format to have the name of the song and the artist be on separate lines so I can stack them instead of having them be next to each other, is that possible?
Try clicking on the arrow in the left corner of your toolbar. If you see a blue orb in your running programs, that's snip. Just right click on it and you can do everything that way.
The comment on you thinking you did not need to explain opening zip files is crazy to me. You just assume people understand file configurations? And I’m assuming your response would be don’t mess with components that you don’t understand. That’s the type of gatekeeping of information that people do when they see someone is close to achieving something with their line of questioning.
