I tried to add the Tesla wall connector to the Tesla App and since I had a faulty Tesla gateway things didn't go smoothly. Come a long for the ride won't you? ☺️
If you're thinking of buying a Tesla, you can get some money off and some bonuses by using my referral link which means we both get credit with Tesla, which is nice. ☺️ You can also use the link when booking a test drive and then I get 100 credits, which is nice too. 😉

Just added my charger with an Android and works well. Perfect timing for your video. Just had the wall connecter installed Monday and took delivery of my M3 yesterday.

After hours of researching Ev's and Plug in Hybrids. I'm about to order a model Y. It's going to be a huge change from our Diesel Toyota Landcruiser 200. I found your channel by far the most informative and entertaining so I'm using your referral link. I was about to ask for it but I just found it above.

Hey Lee as OVO customer it’s amazing for me. $0.08 from 12 to 6 and $0.27 anytime else. They also give $0.11 feed in which is really good at the moment. Now like you I just need to get my battery system fixed … lol

To save some time watching, this only works for a VERSION 3 (or higher) wall connector. It does not work for versions 1 or 2. UPDATE: After watching Lees video (Apr 2024) it appears I *DO* have a version 3 wall connector, so now I'm going to see what happens when I use the QR code to do its magic. Back in a tick... YAY Iv'e got it working as it should have been all along. I now have the picture of the car in the garage, plus the status of the Wall Connector in the App (which I have never seen before). My installer told me I had a version 2 Wall Connector which was incorrect - lucky I saved the box with the manuals inside. Thanks Lee, your video has made my day. I've been sitting here totally oblivious since June 2022, now I can see the big picture YEEHAA. (That's Australian for YEEHAA)

So the "being able to schedule" but in the app now should be able to help you with that now?

When I press the button on the wall charger cable, the Tesla charging port cover should open, but it doesn't. Is this an issue with the charger cable? The charging port cover opens when I press it manually and also from the screen, but there is no response specifically from the cable button. However, once charging starts, it works fine.
@AmericanPoliceBullitt
@AmericanPoliceBullitt Месяц назад
I turned the circuit breaker of the wall connector off and then on again, but the same issue persists. I just reset (rebooted) the Tesla car, but nothing has changed. (Pressing the button to open the lid does not work in any situation, but pressing the button to close the lid works only under certain conditions. It seems that the lid closes automatically shortly after unplugging the cable after charging, so it might not actually be the button causing the lid to close. Therefore, pressing the button to close the lid should also be considered not working.) However, after charging is complete, it seems that the button does unlock the cable to allow it to be removed.
@notacarguy_au
@notacarguy_au Месяц назад
If you have the chance. Check to see if the charger port opens and closes normally at a supercharger near you. If it works fine on that, then I would guess the issue is with your home connector. If it still happens at the supercharger then I would guess it’s the charge port on the car. Either way, I think it best to reach out to Tesla directly and see if they can help you.

Our Wall Connector is currently sitting under the bed while we are waiting for it to be installed (on the first day of our delivery window in 3 weeks) so I look forward to playing around with the app once its all up and running. We have solar and I plan to use the excess where possible as it's better than getting the $0.052 FIT. I'm still working out if I want to use Charge HQ (which will run with out inverter) or adjust things on the fly. I also need to do some math and work out if it's better to go on one of the EV plans like AGL has or stay on our Grandfathered plan with Simply Energy as we get 30% off if the bill is paid in time. Fun times!
@notacarguy_au
@notacarguy_au 9 месяцев назад
Fun times indeed. I manage the solar going into the car manually and it’s a pain. Not the end of the world, but would much rather be able to automate it. Thankfully since I’m home a lot we can charge during the day from the panels and now have a battery for the home at night. So for now, not taking anything from the grid. Which is nice. 😀

Hey mate, picking up my MY in a couple of weeks and ive been binge watching your contents and im really enjoying it. Keep it the good work. Is your powerwall charging the car? Ive tested my friends car on my newly installed wall charge and it was being powered from the powerwall. Is there anyway to stop this? I just want the charger to use the grid and solar...
@notacarguy_au
@notacarguy_au 9 месяцев назад
Hi, glad you're getting benefit from the content. That's interesting about your mates powerwall. Our powerwall doesn't charge the car. That isn't to say that it couldn't but how our is setup is that we generally only charge the car during the day when we are getting good solar and we wait for the powerwall to be full before the plug the car in. Then the car only takes charge from the solar. Having said that, I have been told that because both the powerwall and the Model Y are Tesla products, if we weren't getting solar and we plugged the car in, it would most likely take power from the powerwall before it took it from the grid. I suppose you could avoid this by changing the settings on the powerwall when then car is plugged in to hold 90% or more in reserve and then the car could only take 10% or less from the powerwall. Of course then you'd need to remember to change that back once the car is full. 🤣 hope that all made sense. ☺️
@greghudson9717
@greghudson9717 6 месяцев назад
Yes, you can stop the PW from charging your car. In the Tesla App, go to the HOME main page, then select SETTINGS. Choose Powerwall, then slide the BACKUP RESERVE to 100% (completely to the right). If you want just 10% to go out of the battery, just slide it left a bit. Also, in the CAR Home Screen, reduce the AMPS down to 5, this will give you a trickle charge of just 1.2kW per hour (assuming you are on a single phase 240v outlet). Or, you can use the slider to set the CAR charge limit to ZERO. Yes, it is complicated, but after 1.5 years doing this manually, I have finally got my head around it.

I installed a gen 3 wall connector in my garage today, FINALLY got it connected to wifi (due to having to redo all my wifi settings because the wall connector has asinine restrictions like WPA2 only, 2g only in year 2024, no security filtering, etc...) and now it WILL NOT succesfully connect to the app. This post is pointless, I admit that, and I am only writing it because I am pissed at how obnoxious this is. @@notacarguy_au Not at all. Would you tell people your engine has EFI when it has a carburetor! No, because it's a lie. Always be truthful, then others know the truth. @greghudson9717
@greghudson9717 6 месяцев назад
IMO, since EVSE (Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment - and thanks for letting us know what it actually means) applies to EVERY type of charging source, calling a wall connector a wall charger is reasonable as it describes the specific unit as opposed to 'anything'. After all, the power goes through it to get to your car, so it *IS* technically charging your vehicle. If you have a CABLE plugged into your car, it is called a CHARGING CABLE - see my point ?
@davidws5439
@davidws5439 6 месяцев назад
Greg, do you call EFI a carburetor! No. They do the same job, but you would not tell the repair shop your carburetor needs new jets installed, nor would you tell an EV repair shop your AC charger is not working when it really is the EVSE. Do you care about TRUTH or lies and misinformation.?
