Adding weight to the Land Rover MN99SA wheels. I thought I did a video on this subject when I did the front wheels a while back, but I think I only said what I had done, rather than showed it. Sorry if this is a duplication.

do you also use foam or is not needed for small crawlers?

I am afraid I don't do it regularly enough to form an opinion. My RU-vid buddy Heady2008 does a lot and did try out an MN99SA but he does the larger stuff most of the time. Here is one of his MN99SA runs ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-41dEJoheb4A.html in the notes he said he just added weight to the wheels and glued the tyres on.

Good use for bad solder. I have found a couple of rolls of vintage plumber's solder and being part lead, works well for weight too. Might even solder with some of it! 😉. Thanks 😀 👍

I found this solder was almost impossible to use as solder, so finding an alternative use is quite satisfying 😆👍

Great idea... as I never had lead soldering wire I used a strip on each wheel of the lead self adhesive strip for windows (lead light type), works a treat & adds approximately another 5 grams of weight

Sounds like a good source of weight. That solder was cheap stuff that my soldering iron doesn't like, so using it for weight is it's only good use for me. Not sure how the prices would compare.

Nice video. But what are you gonna Do when u need a New pair of tires since u glued them on? Use methalated spirits to get the glue back off? Anyway good idea with the led strip acting as weights. Will keep the car on the ground😀👍

You can buy hubs with beed locks to hold the tyre on but I doubt I'll use the car enough to want to buy new tyres.

I don't, I usually end up cutting the end of the tube a bit each time I want to use it.

Good job buddy. I have done this to a couple of my trucks but used lead flashing and cut strips of it. If you find you have an issue because you blocked the air hole, you can use a hot soldering iron and melt a hole or two in between the tyre tread. I have also done this and it causes no problems, especially in a light rig like that ;)

Thanks, they seem to work fine. I was using the solder as it is pretty rubbish as solder so best to find a use for it 😁👍
