It should be acknowledged that the infamous Ethiopian leader is focusing on decorating the capital, Addis Ababa, when he should prioritize establishing security in the country. Currently, it is not safe enough to travel from the capital to neighboring towns, Citizens are being kidnapped and held for ransom money, Citizens cannot afford to eat a meal a day, and the unemployment rate among the youth is alarmingly high. The country is plagued by war and ethnic conflict. Despite this, the infamous and ineffective government is more concerned with decorating the leader's palace, parks, and the capital city.
Give credit where credit is due. The leadership is doing an excellent job at least in infrastructure development and trying to solve the problems you mentioned. Do you think businesses continue popping up everywhere even though the price of goods are too high and the population has less to eat? My suggestion to you is try to increase your income and hopefully, you will get rid of the doom and gloom mentality.

Their brightness depends on the gas used, but overall they require a significant amount of electricity to maintain their glow. Fiber optic lighting systems themselves don’t directly consume much energy, as they rely on a central light source (often an LED or halogen lamp). The light is transmitted through the optical fibers to its endpoint. The energy consumption mainly depends on the type of light source used. All in all, that street light is no good for energy cost and its design itself is no good because the light bulbs are facing upward

Addis is a great city with great malls and supermarkets....I have seen Dubai, and live in a top tier North American city in the developed world. When I came to Addis, I had the most fun I have ever had. Yes there isn't the largest mall in the world and yes Fendi and Louis don't have stores but if you are looking for that, just buy it where you are. If you came alone, did not interact and you were withdrawn from the activities (basically if you were boring), yes I can see why it could be boring. No one is going to tickle you out of their way just so you smile. The only thing I agree with you is that the city is expensive considering its technically still in the third world. You burn through cash when living in that city especially if you want western standard of living.
