The TEC progressive springs are a great addition, I've also added the TEC rear shock and it's transformed the ride. Best money I've spent so far!

Right!?! I am so impressed with the progressive springs for the price, that I may consider their rear shocks as well.

I can't believe you've done all of that and STILL do not have the Fox Rears. You will LOVE them. Also try Shinko 804/805 tires. $160 a PAIR. I have them on my Tiger 800XCa and my street legal WR450F...awesome.

Haha I know. But can't you not do piggy back shocks with a saddlebag? I've been waiting for a good non-piggyback option.

Late to the party but triumph UK do a beefy metal skid plate as an accessory. Its basically the same as the plastic one but aluminium.
@ScramblerStories
@ScramblerStories 5 лет назад
Yeah I have that one now. It came out with the 2019 models, but fits the 2018/17 versions without issue. Works well too. I just tested it on the Dalton highway and boy did it take rock after rock.

That front fender is the wrong radius for the 19 inch wheel and tire. Looks much better farther away from the tire. Good info on the seat, but isn't it a little taller than Triumph's, too? It seems to me you're having a bit too much fun with all those trips. You might think about toning it down a bit in consideration for those of us who aren't having as much fun as you. Scramble on.
@rickducharme7429

Don't forget the T.E.C. cam. get it before your trip. It turns it into a virtual 1200 clone, power wise.
@ScramblerStories
@ScramblerStories 6 лет назад
Yeah the front fender was bothering me, but I definitely like it raised. The slammer does add a little height. Maybe half an inch? Can't say I really notice, but in working on a video that compares the Triumph bench seat to the Slammer, it's definitely a little taller. I got wanderlust, and for that there is only one cure...

Scrambler Stories: I hear that. I've got a bad case myself. I'm having a hard time deciding which bike to buy. It'll be a Triumph Bonney, but I like three models, and just haven't been able to decide--which is normally not my style, but there it is. Tomorrow, I'm closing the file because the road is calling, and I can't burn the rest of the nice weather, while I dither...Anyway, I enjoy your vids, and I also appreciate your response. I'm in Vancouver, BC, which you may or may not be passing through (BC, not Vancouver) Make sure you don't miss the Canadian Rockies from Banff to Lake Louise even if it takes a bit longer, you'll love it. Cheers!

@ScramblerStories 6 лет назад
Ah yeah, I will pass through there next year. Good luck on the decision. I was between the Street Scrambler, Thruxton, and T100. I've been really happy with the Street Scrambler. I probably would have been happy with any of them, but I think I chose right for what I like to do.

I use a Sena 10C. Video quality is ok. GoPro looks better, but the Sena records the microphone and you can also record anyone you are talking to on another Bluetooth device or phone call. It's nice to have two way conversations!

Hey! Love what you’ve done with the bike! Did you ever get the ABS figured out with the Free Spirits rear brake relocation bracket? I’ve been debating on getting one for the same reasons you listed, but don’t want to lose the ABS.
@ScramblerStories
@ScramblerStories 5 лет назад
Thanks! No, the sensor is too far from the disc with the Free Spirits bracket on, so I've just left it off. At least with the bracket I got. Too thick and haven't tried to modify it.

What are your thoughts on the possible 2019 1200 scrambler. Awesome that they are adding it to their lineup, but is it necessary? I feel like the current bike is damn near perfect. I suppose next year's could find a place between the 900cc and the tiger line. My biggest fear is that they will not continue to make your scrambler and then I wont be able to buy it in a year or two... :(
@ScramblerStories
@ScramblerStories 6 лет назад
I don't think you need to worry about them not making the Street Scrambler a few years down the road. It's a great bike, seems to sell well, and is better suited for more riders. The teased Scrambler looks awesome, and I am into it. Wouldn't dare trade in my Scrambler for it though. No doubt it'll have a high seat height and be less friendly to shorter riders. However for those who want something more aggressive off-road like a Tiger XCX, but still want that retro look, it could be the perfect bike. It's on my list of bikes I will be interested in for the RTW trip. I was between a Tiger or an Africa Twin, but a beefier Scrambler would be more appealing to me, and of course fits the theme of Scrambling Around the World!

Hi did you have any problems installing the Vance and Hines Pipe, also did you need a remap?
@ScramblerStories
@ScramblerStories 6 лет назад
No issue installing it, though a second person would help when actually putting on the bike. Otherwise it was a piece of cake. I did it myself and it didn't take long. Though I had already taken the stock exhaust a few times before so I was use to it. No remap needed, the ECU will "learn" the new exhaust. Supposedly unplugging the battery, plugging it back in and then letting the bike idle for a few minutes with the new exhaust will help it learn it quicker. That's how I did it, and I didn't notice any issues.
@hm5262
@hm5262 6 лет назад
Thanks, that clears things up. Since asking I did have the chance to talk to my local Triumph dealer who as it happens had just fitted one to a street scrambler, he also confirmed that no remap was necessary which was reassuring. Great reviews by yourself of the Bike which encouraged me to buy this model as I was looking for an all rounder with green lane potential. As you say it seems to do everything you ask of the Bike with ease!

@@x-man5056 Oh yeah, there online ordering sucks. Easiest thing to do is go to a dealer and have them order one for you. If there's not one close, you can do a goggle search. There are some online companies that sell them as well, depending the country you are in.

@ScramblerStories
@ScramblerStories 6 лет назад
Hey Lee, I will be doing a video soon introducing my Scrambler, since I haven't done that. Will certainly get some walk around shots if it then. As far as the Vance & Hines for the Street Twin goes, it was really easy to install. You get to skip the first pages since the Scrambler doesn't need part of the kit. Install wasn't bad, I did it by myself. With a second person to help it would be even easier/faster.

did you have the fueling remapped after the v&h exhaust install
@emildicaro5553
@emildicaro5553 6 лет назад
also were you able to use the grab rail and rack with the stock seat or did you change the seat at the same time
@ScramblerStories
@ScramblerStories 6 лет назад
NO, didn't have to do a remap. I've heard dealers don't have it available anymore, but also that it doesn't matter since the ECU will automatically adjust itself. I unplugged the battery and then replugged it, which supposedly helps speed up the process. Didn't notice any real hiccups the first few minutes it was "learning." I didn't ever try the grab rail/rack with the stock seat, as I had switched to the Triumph Bench seat right away. I believe I have heard of a few users that used the stock seat with the rack. Otherwise I've used it with the Triumph Bench seat and the British Customs. Mentioned here if curious. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-riwQXRULK5g.html

I have not as of now. I'm considering it for the Alaska trip next year, but I'm not sure what I would do yet.
@JaX0rton
@JaX0rton 6 лет назад
I was considering the clearwater Darla's because they have variable intensity through frequency modulation, an efficient way to turn the lights down so it doesn't kill your batteries. Those things are expensive. One of the riders from the local triumph community recommended I try out the Gold Runway 40W bulbs. I'm trying to decide which one to pick up. Would love to talk if you're in the process of deciding which lights to pick up.

I've recently started considering the Denali D4 v2 (available on British Customs). Awaiting my engine guard from British Customs. Once it's available, I'll check the mount-ability and pick something up. My BC seat and crash guard shipped over a month ago. International deliveries to India are so much more painful than NY.. ah how life has changed in the past few months :P

@ScramblerStories

No, I have the full Vance & Hines 2 into 1 for the Street Twin. I'm sure one could rock the British Customs decat with the Vance and Hines slip on for the Street Scrambler though.
@kashilee9158
@kashilee9158 5 лет назад
you happier with your full system over the BC/stock setup?
@ScramblerStories
@ScramblerStories 5 лет назад
Yeah. I liked the BC decat and it was the cheaper way to go. But I got the Vance & Hines full exhaust for $160 on clearance. For that price it was too good to pass up. Takes off more weight, and the 2 into 1 sound is great. If I had to pay full price, I would have stayed with the decat. However if you already have the slip on Vance & Hines, the decat will probably make you happy, and essentially give you the same exhaust but with a different look. -Chris

I’m trying to find info on what full systems will for a 2018 street scrambler. Not having a lot of luck on if any of the older systems will fit.
@ScramblerStories
@ScramblerStories 5 лет назад
You have plenty of options. Full systems from Vance & Hines (for the street twin) and Zard. Slip ons from Vance & Hines and British Customs (shotgun pipes). Decats from British Customs, Free Spirits, etc. All the full systems include decats. There's a few others out there too.
