Thanks for the tip. I have a 2001 740 IL of course a bigger car and different console all together so the measurements don't work for me but you gave me the idea. The cup holder looks great and tomorrow is metal cutting time with the dremmel. I have to use 2 pieces to make the "L" shape but couple of screws + JB weld should hold it more than fine. The 740's are know for not having cup holders besides the useless sliding one that always brakes and only holds a cup about 3 or 4 inches tall. Anything else falls right out. Thanks again great idea!!
Very helpful video indeed! I have an 06 e93 325xi (wagon) and the little chrome strip was pulled off or fell off. The only way to fix it is to buy a new drink holder. I found one for $53 allegedly oem, and after watching your and one other video, I feel emboldened to conduct this repair. You’re so right about the odd paint mush coating black color on the trim. When you windex it, you end up with more mush and it dulls. Same for the steering wheel. Love these cars though; new ones are boring and expensive.
Hi Jonathan, did you try this on the e93? I have an e91 and the floor panel is one whole piece. There is no way to attach the aluminum piece. I’ll be very thankful if you share. Thanks
Probably but I have not tried this yet. First option I would try is to mount the second cupholder on the drivers side of the center console. Like mirroring the passenger side. But maybe a 0.5 liter cup or bottle will get in the way of the radio and AC buttons too much? Second option is to mount the second holder also on the passenger side, but then behind the first one.
I know, but this is the best way to have optimum space for the knees of the passenger. I was afraid passengers would hit the cupholder with the knees. And it looks nice this way also right?
