There are a ton of adult trike videos on RU-vid, and most of them talk about tipping in turns. As someone who has ridden a trike pretty aggressively, I am amazed and kinda pissed off that NOBODY doing trike videos points out this one principle. If you position the pedal on the inside of your turn at the bottom, and put your weight on that pedal, you lower the center of gravity so much that it is nearly impossible to make the trike tip. If you stand up and put all your weight on that inside pedal, you would have to achieve lateral G forces high enough to lift your own weight. A reasonably intelligent person who understands this one principle should never fear tipping a tricycle. Just get off your butt and shift your weight to the inside pedal. You don't even need to lean into the turn.... just put your weight on the inside pedal. Try it.

I'm a 65-year-old amputee who has been riding e-trikes and trikes for over 40 years now. I lean into turns and have never gone over sideways! (I do crazy stunts sometimes and once went over backwards when backing down off a ramp - but never sideways.)

I currently own a Lectric XP trike, that said if the Addmotor turn out to have fewer complaints about failing rear axles and bearings I would be willing to try one.

You can see how much the Lectric trike influenced this bike. Its a rear wheel differential mostly where most the main competition took the front wheel drive because its so much easier to do mechanically. I am surprised it does not have hydrolic brakes.

I agree i wish they had a cover over the chain, and a basket liner, i wish they had bigger turn signal on back and lights that light up on each side of fender..would this bike be able to handle colder areas? So you could ride all winter? Also the seat back leaning i can see that difference also..wondering if that would be comfortable for smaller size people

Another nice review. Lots to like. Unfortunately at 6'6" and more importantly 315 pounds means it isn't for me. I'm still glad to see another rear differential trike on the market, especially one with good quality at a good price that arrives undamaged.

Another Nice Video Richard... FYI, went to look at today and very limited info on the "Plus" if any yet on site. It also appears Baskets are not included. Maybe I'm missing something? Saw Cindy below asked them for the baskets and they included them for her, wonder if that was a spiff or what? Maybe they included yours for the review? Thanx for all your great info...

Thanks for the support! The first couple of days they were on sale they offered different accessory options. I purchased when they offered both baskets. In my opinion, the rear basket should come standard. But they are trying to keep the price below $2K for marketing. As for the Plus size info, the only difference is the tire size which affects the height. They have that about 1/4 down the page. They have all three sizes listed with the tire size for each.

Hi, I did ask for the rear basket when I talked with salesperson on the phone. I asked if I could have the basket instead of their $100 Black Friday package. She said no problem. Our bikes are being delivered on Tuesday and we’ll see if they gave them to us🤞🤞

To secure the front wheel axle, be careful to install the tabbed safety washer as described in this video. Both the AddMotor assembly manual and their E-310 assembly video show this incorrectly by telling the assembler to line the tab in the fork opening (slot). If the front wheel came off the ground as riding quickly over a speed bump, with the axle nuts loose(ened) the tab along with the axle will slip right out allowing the wheel to fall off. No joke, this happened to me in a 3-wheeled golf cart in which the technician removed the wheel for tire repair and reinstalled it hand tight forgetting to tighten it with a wrench !!!

I see they took the standard 310 Trike off their website this afternoon. They must be out of stock. The sales person from Addmotor who is calling us tonight is Pacific standard time… we are Eastern standard time. She said she was calling us at 7:00😆😆😜, not sure if it’s their time or my time. I’m guessing theirs since it’s 7:45 now. Oh well, we want standard size anyway. You did say in your review today of the 310, that your wife could have gotten the plus size frame. How tall is she?? Thanks for your help

She is 5'4". And the reason I said that is the set post on the standard is up about 3 inches. So if we had gotten the bigger tires, we could have lowered the seat all the way down and it would have been about the same. Did the sales rep call you? I hope so. Sometimes customer service with these bike manufactures isn't all that great. I really haven't dealt with Addmotors customer service so I don't know. Thanks again for a great review. On the front wheel, What is the white strip or strap that attaches to the center of the wheel and then goes to the back of the fender and attches to it? I could be a grey color so as not to stand out so much.

Ok, so I WAS dead set on an XP Trike, but your review here has me thinking the extra money would be worth it, especially for more power, high battery capacity, and the turn signals, I'm kind of a sucker for that, and it can still take a trailer. And with you on the baskets, that can be an issue when carrying smaller items, least Addmotor makes a liner for it.

I enjoy your reviews. Appreciate your unbiased evaluation. One question, I see these batteries 48 volt 20 ah cost about $750. How long can we expect them to last before having to buy a new battery?

George that is a good question. It's hard to say for several reasons. How much they are used, how hot/cold they get, how many times they were charged, if they ever ran completely out etc. Just yesterday I spoke to someone who had 6000 miles on his bike and the same battery. He rides it to works almost every day. I don't believe its very common for someone to have to replace the battery before just upgrading the bike in 5-10 years. Hope this helps.

Hi buddy glad you’re out having fun. I put that washer like you said with the tab turned up and in the hole. I questioned them about if you l look at it close you can see it made to be like that. They told me to turn it over So I left it like I got it.

Thank you so much for all of your reviews!!! Just a quick question. This bike doesn't have different gears. I would like to be able to get some light exercise from an E trike. I come from an area in Colorado with lots of hills. Would this be a good choice for being able to lightly pedal up hills? I am currently recovering from knee replacement and I will be putting my E-bike up for sale soon as I want to transition to an E-Trike. If there is a trike that is foldable and has gears for exercise purpose, could you let me know what you think? Thanks so much. I love your videos!!!

Hi thanks for watching. In my opinion you would want a multi-speed trike to better tackle the hills. A single speed may prove to be difficult to pedal. But, that would be some real good exercise :-) Mooncool has a Fat20 which is multi-speed, but I would say its under powered for the hills. Mokwheel just released a new trike, but I have not tested it. Puckipuppy has one also that is multi-speed. But I can't recommend them because i have not tried them.

I like this bike. That standard is rather small though. I wonder if I can move the throttle to the left handle? My right hand motor skills are not too good.

You would need to purchase the left handed throttle or else you would be twisting it backwards. Throttles are only about $20 on Amazon. I just did a video when I replaced one on the Troxus Explorer last week.

Thanks for the question. I have not tested the M330 so I really don't know how it performs. The TK1 is the most stable of the trikes I have tested.

You mentioned in a previous video the the trike can be adjusted so that there can be more resistance an less ghost pedaling. Can you do a video on how to do that? Also, can this trike be modified to be a 3 speed? 0:14

Its not a modification i have planned at the moment so no videos on it. But what you can possible do is replace the front crank. That would be the front sprocket and get a bigger one. By doing that, you will get more resistance at the start, but also at a higher speed. It will help some, but not a total fix. As for modifying to make it a 3 speed. Probably, although it would not be easy or cheap. I'm not even sure if you could use the same axle.

I understand you wanting to show that you would have to do a turn fast in order to have a tipping event occur. I do however do not think most people are going to go out and turn circles or cut donuts on their trike especially seniors. 😃

Hi, I have made several videos now, I thought i covered that in one of them. But, it does fold in half which reduced its length, but it increases the width. So, same bulk just a different shape. Its still heavy so not easy to pick up. Mine did not have a stand under it so when its folded the frame sits directly on the ground. Most trikes and bikes have a little support bar under it to offer better protection.

They could be forward a couple of inches. Just takes a little getting used to. The Lectric XP is about the same.

I believe the seat with back is standard with the trike, but the baskets were part of a special package right at launch. I believe now they have to be purchased. The rear is $99 and the front is $59. I did hear from someone else that was ordering over the phone and they were offered the basket at no charge. May be worth contacting sales and ask.

Its hard to say. Both have some limitations, both have some great qualities. I guess for your situation, is the best balance most important to you? If so, the Lectric is a little better in that area. If balance is not an issue, then the E-310 is far better. Chances of shipping damage is minimal unlike the Lectric. Stronger motor, bigger battery kinda seal the deal for me.

Don't let the weather make decisions for you. If you can ride, then why wait? If your area is about to get snowed in for the winter, then no need letting it sit around for a few months just staring at it. That would drive me nuts.

There may be enough room between the front forks. Rear would probably be fine. But, I'm not an expert.

Yes, you can get a bigger bike and lower the seat to reach the ground, but that’s not how you set seat post height …. A bicycle seat height is adjusted in reference the pedals to provide a comfortable reach to the pedals. For example does anyone care to ride a little bike with their knees in their face (LOL); it’s uncomfortable to pedal !!!

No, most companies don't offer them. They have the trike priced fairly low for what your getting, there just isn't much room for discounts.

Fantastic Review Richard! You explained it to all riders both to ebike riders and new ebike riders. I loved the fact that you turned the head unit around so that riders with shorter arms and riders with physical handicaps can also feel safe and comfortable riding this ebike. My wife has a torn rotator cuff(shoulder) and this is something I will be changing on our other brand trike. Do you think that addmotor is worth the extra $500 over the other brand?

Yes, I do think its worth it. For me, its the much stronger motor and larger battery, the better build quality, no shipping damage, it was all worth the extra $500.

I agree, but the XP also comes with a smaller less powerful motor, a much smaller battery, FREE shipping damage, cheaper parts all around. But yes, you get two hydraulic brakes and save $500. @@jacobschwartz6721

Ok this was a good in-depth review of the Addmotor E310. Appreciate the riding examples to show the actions/response of a Trike. I’m wondering if 90Nm of torque is too much for my 78yrs old Momma. My wife said the same when she first got on it. Its a little peppy unfortunately with no settings to change it. Once you ride it a little, you understand its characteristics. My wife mostly throttles, so she just controls the speed with the throttle. A little sensitive, but you can control it. But if you start to pedal, a way you go. I don't usually recommend companies that i have not tried or companies that don't want to work with me, but... have a look at the EMOJO Bull. Its new, and has lower torque.

Hey Richard, I noticed you ran your main wire on the outside you were supposed to run it between your front basket in the front you’re supposed to tuck the wire in between the front basket and fork

yeah, I should have unwrapped the wire wrap and given it more room to pull it to the center. It was tight as it was. I will make the change at some point.

I run dogs with my kit trike, 1200 watt, 19 amp hour. i have a pup that hits 19 mph. My pedals become useless at 14-15 mph. Lectric isn't going to cut it for me. i am 77 years old, and have been riding my Sun trike for 7 years. Made it an E trike a couple years ago. Put 7 speeds on it, and I will pay a couple hundred more. i don't want a toy. I want a TRIKE that moves. Yeah. over 15 mph gets scary, but that pup hits 19 mph. I am careful! The dogs are highly trained! I am thinking Addmotor 310. My Ebikling kit has been flawless. i need a better frame.

It has the power. But, like any trike when you go across uneven ground, it wobbles back and forth. Not too bad, you just have to be ready to shift your body weight a little to counter balance.

I dont understand their three trike sizes. It doesn't change anything when measuring for peddle leg length. Unless they are changing the length of the seat stem on each trike. Your legs need to be at a proper reach to the peddle, so you don't damage your knees.

I like this one better. Thought I made it clear, but there will be a comparison video soon. My wife is undecided, and she needs to ride it more. Her health doesn't allow her to get out too often so I am waiting for her to decide, then I will let everyone know that too.

My troubles in peddles tripping me bad with other brands nerve damage doesn't lifts and to powerful lifts other haft spinning me . Check trip min please be level of peddles or less.

For a larger person they could be in the way. I have them turned because my wife is unable to reach very far, so we needed them closer.

The dual rear brakes will be a fail! Mechanical brakes will require adjustments. For their target market, I have doubts that a lot of folks will be able to do a even adjustment without taking it to a shop. Uneven adjustments will result in pulling to the right or left - not good. In addition, the throttle regulation will be hard for folks, I'm concerned with people flipping. You are really experienced with ebikes, a beginner with mobility issues is goind to have issues. Even you had issues with too much throttle.

That is so you can adjust the chain to fit a single speed. The derailer keeps the chain at the correct tension.

@@judieloux3610 it is difficult to install a perfect length of chain. I just upgraded my front sprocket to a larger diameter(42 vs 34), and trying to put the exact # of teeth on the chain was a bitch(either too tight or too loose). This is where a derailuer makes installing the chain easier. Also if you pop the chain off accidentally, youre screwed unless it has a master link. Some recumbent trikes( ie: Catrike) come with a pulley tensioner instead of a derailuer.

@@judieloux3610 Also, we are speaking about vertical dropouts on the rear sprocket ( you can’t adjust chain tension by sliding wheel forward or back). It all comes down to the length of the chain and how difficult you want the installation process to be.

You keep saying "tire" when you mean "wheel." As in, "We had to install the front tire." If that had been the case, you'd get out screw drivers, etc., and force the rubber tire onto the metal wheel. In automotive speak, the wheel includes the tire (usually), and does with the E310. It's got three wheels. Get it? --Ned Nitpicker in Ohio

Price. Addmotor costs $2000-$2200. Whereas, the other brand starts at $500 less.

I would like to know and see of these bikes together. The sizes to see how you break down to wrap the front wheel around the back and if you can move it with the 3 wheels the front wheel into the back wheels to store it how that works. You need to do a little bit more of A. What the bikes capable of doing instead of talking about your wife?I know she's a beautiful woman.But a i'm not interested in your wife sorry
