Retired Army Ranger and former member of the Army Marksmanship Unit, Dave Steinbach, addresses a couple of rifle training scars in this video, using the Push-Pull Drill.
It's common for shooters to shoot at the same cadence regardless of the size and/or the distance of a target. In addition, many shooters have built a habit of taking two shots, and only two shots, for every engagement.
This drill will help address those two common training scars.
*Note: Blast Off Mondays will continue as normal in the next week or two.

I often have trouble throttling back up after a target requires higher sight discipline. I also have a hard time slowing down when required after shooting some hoser targets. This would be a great drill for working on this. Thanks Dave!

When I qualify I always have a shotgun pattern on my target for that exact reason. I'm trying to shoot fast like it was real world. Every instructor has told me to slow down. Glad I'm not the only one

Looking forward to incorporating this into my training. Dave, a video I would like to see is what it took to become a ranger and what it's like to be one, there's a lot out there about Navy SEALs but not so much quality information about Army Ranger's. (Motivation: I have a grandson that is hell bent on becoming a SEAL or a Ranger.) Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience with us!!!

Agreed and typical 556 is an average of 5 rounds to stop a human DRT and remove the threat but with proper training outside of sniping you should be able to run your 556 rifle like a sewing machine and keep your rounds on target. Anything less and train train train.
