Despite being a big magic player myself, I do agree that the playerbase is full of MUSTY people

I started playing Magic about 6 months. I've been playing FNM at Funny Pages about 4 months ago. The guys at Funny Pages have been awesome. As a female player the guys are very respectful and very helpful. After a few weeks I felt very comfortable showing up.

I first picked up planning magic in 2003, during legions block, was the only black kid that I knew of playing magic 😅, and hot damn did people pick on us, I'll tell u one thing tho, I made some great friends and great memories.

thank you for making this documentary!!! i shared it with people in my life who know i play magic and have no idea what it is i do, they think im the creepy 30 year old playing pokemons with a bunch of little kids, or that i wanna be a witch worshipper or something but never took the time to hear what the game is about. i met my best friend over talking about magic one day in the breakroom at work and now thanks to that i have people in my life that i can call on a friday night and say 'hey whatcha up to?, kitchen table magic? sure!!'. Also i just found a new place to play magic i didnt know there was a shop only 30 mins from me in webberville. cant wait to join you guys!

Great work. I've been playing since 1993 when the game came out. I have seen a lot card pictures change over time, which shows that MTG is evolving to stay around

I like magic and have played for about seventeen years. With my mates, in an organised club and occasionally in competitive events. The people in this vid look a lot like the people I meet at competitions. One big difference is that EVERYONE I play with here accepts that the game is geeky and that's why we like it. The players are generally a very accepting group of people and any club or regular event will have a few people who have slight tendencies that would single them out as "a bit autistic" anywhere else. Some of the people featured clearly accept this whilst a few others seem to be denying it when they should run with it and celebrate what is good about it. I didn't understand what Bowen said at 4:17 what is a "pocket protector" is it an american thing or a really deep part of nerd culture that I am simply not aware of ?

This video doesn’t help that stigma. Everyone of these players are exactly how I imagine the stereotypical MTG player looks, and I play magic… I do think that there is genuinely some of the nicest people playing it though I always meet very friendly and accommodating people.

The stigma is nerdy guys ages 17-45 who smell and can’t talk to women. Has it changed in 6 years? A little. Still considered nerdy but I think newer generations aren’t against being nerdy

Love the guy who says a girl he knows told him that girls don't like guys who play MTG, but he knows it's actually the opposite.
