@@Mors_Inimicis Maybe not. Then again, there was a nice moment when I saw him and his band The Bad Shepherds at a festival a few years ago. The tent was absolutely packed with fans of Ade (and of music), and a couple of songs into the set the cheers had got particularly loud. When it died down, Ade shyly stepped up to the mike and said "Aww, you lot are fucking lovely!"
I love this man. In the way of completely understanding what it’s like to lose half of your life when your best mate dies. I hope he knows how much joy he brings the world by simply showing his face in public. He’s a legend. They both are. Much love to Ade Edmondson and Rik Mayall. And to everyone of yOu who reads this 🙏🙌☀️
Our chemistry teacher would put "the young ones" on tape and if we did well in class, he would wheel the video recorder and TV into class and he would play it for us ..... everyone just stopped burning the person beside them with a bunsen burner and focussed on the TV 😆! Good times - He was was my best teacher - top guy !
He's been the source of so many laughs through my life. I can't remember a time without him or Rick making me giggle like a fool. Long may he continue!
The saddest thing was that fact about all great things and lives that end abruptly...we ll never know if the best was yet to come. But we cherish what we have. Long may Rik and Ade's work shine.
The comedic alchemy which happened when Ade and Rik collided made life magical in the last century, regardless of how self deprecating Ade speaks of himself
my absolute all time hero. That level of comedy Rik and ade done was just in a different league. Absolutely hilarious and still to date nothing quite like it
Would love to see Ade play Vivian as a consultant in today's NHS or even private (yeah, he'd probably be private), would be comedy gold I have no doubt.
I’ll always remember seeing Ade and Rik live in Brighton and someone shouted from the audience “have a wank” (from bottom) and they stopped the show and laughed and the whole audience laughed with them. A memorable experience. RIP RIK Mayall.
I was repairing a coffee machine at a Shell garage on the A1 some years ago and Ade came in, instantly recognisable. I said hello as we both headed into the toilets, I thought, oh, this is a bit awkward, I don't want him to think I'm just being weird, I did actually need a jimmy riddle so opted for the cubicle. He did say hello back and smiled as he headed back out to his vehicle. Was a pleasant encounter. Love him in Bottom with Rik ( RIP, greatly missed ) and he's played a serious role in a Police drama, forget which one it was though.
Seen them both live on stage, memories to keep a life time ❤ I’m 66 and don’t mind saying, I cried when news of RM’s death came through. Also seen RM live on stage, in the new statesman.
What a lovely man ade is . He with rik were the modern laurel and Hardy. They had brilliant timing . I remember ade saying you barstard to rip when he passed . Their bottom series was just amazing stuff. Always love watching my box collection..and yes now he said it .he does look like penfold lol
Even back then! A hardline feminist BBC programmer called Jane Root killed off the 3rd series of Bottom back in the '90s.. according to Rick & Ade it was reportedly shaping up to be the best one yet..
got to love him, Rik and Ade were pure magic together. Bottom still makes me ill with laughter, the 1st 3 live shows were the best, Loved the 1st two more though. Such a shame we lost Rik, i do miss him deeply, i often wondered if they would have done another live tour again, even now if Rik was still here.
Just binged some of the live shows that they done together… such a shame we lost both of them at the same time .. i grew up watching bottom and have now got my kids quoting it to me 🥰🥰🥰
in the early 90s a school friend of me and my kid bro visited us in the autumn, asked about if we knew The Young Ones, since we only knew them from that series, we nodded and told we loved the ending a lot!he then went home 2 hallways down the block, came back with 2 vhs tapes with Bottom!we made coffee and had a great laugh watching those!
I can resonate with the school beatings. I went to boarding school where punishments ranged from a slipper struck onto a bare arse or 12 of the cane and injuries would draw blood that would seep into your pants afterwards. Safe to say I don’t hold many amazing memories of school. I got through it by staying close to a tight knit group of friends. Ade, I get you. Lots of love to you.
Ade is bang on, Arthur Lowe was incredibly funny with a script, skilled at timing and generally humorous acting. But I saw him at a Water Rats event. He was the speaker for the evening. No character at all I was shocked, droll dry humour not an act. Stunned. I think it was also televised.
His memoir is brilliant. I just finished it on Audible. I've always loved Rik & Ade but didn't know a lot of Ade's background orvwhat he was like off-screen. Delighted to discover he's a wonderful man as well qs a comedy great.
“I could play stairway to heaven when i was 12. Jimmy Page didn't actually write it until he was 22. i think that says quite a lot.” Vim Fuego and definitely not Alan 🤣. Also loved Ade in Britain. You don’t really see that level of patriotism now. RIP Rik and Robbie for those who know the early Comic Strip Presents.
Rik and Ade remind me of my husband and his best friend. I think if one died the other would never be the same again. Much love to Ade. I loved and still love everything he, and Rik have done.
I used to watch Bottom with an ex of mine lol proper hilarious ade Edmondson and his amazing Friends, Rik, Alexei x the young ones is hilarious! When they fight with Madness, when they have bands in their living room, demolishing the house as Vivian crashes through the walls etc, and Sir Ben Elton as Barry in 'Nozin' around' so hilarious 😂
