I swam in that pool in the late 70's It was owned by the Wyness family, My friend Thomas lived there with his family. His Dad was a lawyer. The house was spectacular in the day with amazing views from even the pool. The land from there all the way down south to what is now Shiedow park was owned by his Mum's Family (I think) there name was Shiedow. The building next to the pool was a "pool house" as you can imagine the family was very well off, with many luxury cars. The brick fence and concrete Falcons was added by the new owners the Peregrine Corporation ( OTR) so expect a new mansion there soon. I also was told back in the day that there are 1 or 2 massive underground cooper water tanks, that would be worth now an absolute fortune in scrap if removable.
Correct!! Old Man Shiedow owned much of the land between Marino & Hallett Cove. The mother of the two boys in the family was Georgie Shiedow. Some serious wealth there...
I was really hoping that you would get to film this amazing mansion. I was devastated to see it get vandalised and then demolished. Have seen it up on cement hill all my life and always wondered what it was like inside. Such a shame to lose an iconic piece of Adelaide real estate. It looks like that hill might get subdivided as there are roads being cut around the hill. Another one of Adelaides landmarks gone forever. 😥😥
It’s Brighton cement. The original owners were the Sheoks who owned most of the land from there to Lonsdale and across to south road. When I was in kindy Ty years ago we visited the farm as an excursion.
Another great vid josh. I was thinking why you haven't been there? Great choice for delaying it. I know a couple of people that work for the local council and I heard that the last owners of the house got payed out to leave cause it was un live able from the quarry boral on the other side of the house. $2.95m back in 2012. 7 years left there to rot. Its totally trashed now. Cheers for posting it mate. Keep up the good vids.
Cheers Darren! Sometimes I'll sit on a video incase in the moment I say something or show something that might give a location away. This house was definitely livable when we were there, it definitely isn't now. Also, having a 5 month old baby means exploring and editing is a thing of the past currently!
Wow lived down south all my growing up every time we went down to brighton would go past that house wondered who lived there and what it looked like inside, great video any plans on any other local places?
A little update from someone who regularly passes this location on their daily commute... Unfortunately the Eagle Mansion as we know it has been demolished over the past few days, sadly it seems this senseless vandalism has claimed the life of this gorgeous structure. Who knows what the mining company or whoever owns it will do but unfortunately it's not up to us, which sucks because I'd have liked to have seen it be restored.
@@sonuvabitch, ohhh. Yes, that makes sense, though it sucks, historically. I've been looking into its history, and appreciate having a possible reason for its demise & demolition!
oh my god this must've been filmed a while ago! I first went maybe a month or two ago and it was much more damaged than this. It's so sad how gorgeous this place was, my mum went to a party there back in the early 2000s and she said it was amazing.
It was filmed about 7 months ago. I kept the video in my archive as I didn't want to leak the address as it may get destroyed. After driving past the other day I realised it was time
All gone now, got demolished last week. Absolutely criminal what Boral did. They bought the house for $3 million and then just left it to rot and to be vandalised. Wonder what is below the ground that they wanted to mine??? This used to be Graham Cornes' house I believe
Literally last week? Shit, this video was interesting and I was thinking of going there tbh. Strangely I was born and raised in Adelaide and in 20 years I don't think I've ever seen it.
Wouldn’t you be a bit pished if you were a boral shareholder and they just blew 3 million bucks off the bottom line letting this incredible place just get wrecked and then bulldozed.
Approaches toilet and guy “number 2” in his first contribution to the video enthusiastically asks “is there a shit in there?!” No buddy, not this time. Perhaps next time... perhaps we will find you a big old shit next time.
@@kerriboyle2682 2:15 that steel box section is marked 01/04/98, but obviously that's not original (they wouldn't have built the house like that with it being behind a door, didn't notice that), my bad
The last owners got 3 million for it, so there’s that. BTW you can’t vandalise it with ya spray cans coz it was demolished about 2 to 3 years ago. Sucker
