Right. So I was at Glastonbury in 2007. It started to rain so me and my then girlfriend (now wife) ran into a small tent to get a cup of tea and have a smoke. Sitting chilling and then a young singer announces herself and starts singing. Everyone stopped and listened to an absolute star. It was adele and it was amazing.
I remember being 19 and watching this video for the first time in November 2007 when it had only a few hundred views... I knew she would make it. I kept coming back to listen to this beautiful song and to check if the views were going up because I felt she truly deserved to be heard by everyone in the world. So happy it is the case now. Adele is incredible.
I was at Glastonbury in 2007. It started to rain as it always does. My future wife and I ran in to the Guardian tea tent to escape the rain. We had a much deserved cup of tea whilst Adele played this to an audience of about 40. She was amazing.
This was the first song and video I ever watched of Adele back in 08 that day, it is still my favorite song of hers, I bought her album on iTunes and cried so much to it as I was going through a very tough time, I hold her first album very close to my heart, part of me wishes she wouldn't have gone mainstream ❤️
+Amy Anderson I know, I feel the same way. I couldn't get tickets to her concert despite me, my mom, and my friend all trying on both the presale and the regular sale date. We were ready to go the second they were on sale and sold out. I'm a true fan, and I feel like fair-weather fans are the ones who see her now.
+Live Till I Die she hasn't gone mainstream, people made her mainstream which is good because she helped the music industry:) she's still the same girl
Jelena Krstic She hasn't changed but the fact that I've been a fan since 2009 and would have flown to see her, and it was impossible to get tickets is pretty shitty. So many people in big cities who don't even care much about her get to see her.
2:15 til the end is epic. the powerful voice, the dramatic piano. such an incredible talent...not to mention shes a beautiful young young lady. speechless.
No one has posted the lyrics, so I will do it myself. I've been walking in the same way as I did Missing out the cracks in the pavement And turning my heel and strutting my feet "Is there anything I can do for you dear? Is there anyone I could call?" "No and thank you, please Madam I ain't lost, just wandering" 'Round my hometown Memories are fresh 'Round my hometown Ooh the people I've met Are the wonders of my world Are the wonders of my world Are the wonders of this world Are the wonders of now I like it in the city when the air is so thick and opaque I love to see everybody in short skirts, shorts and shades I like it in the city when two worlds collide You get the people and the government Everybody taking different sides Shows that we ain't gonna stand shit Shows that we are united Shows that we ain't gonna take it Shows that we ain't gonna stand shit Shows that we are united 'Round my hometown Memories are fresh 'Round my hometown Ooh the people I've met yeah Do-dily-di-da-da-da-da-day, yeah Do-dily-di-da-da-da-da-day, yeah Do-do-do-do-ohh-ohh, yeah Yeah, yeah, hey, ay Are the wonders of my world Are the wonders of my world Are the wonders of this world Are the wonders of my world Of my world, yeah Of my world Of my world, yeah
I didn't really know her when I first saw this a couple of years back. Chasing Pavements was the 1st song I'd heard by her and it resonated with me. But when I saw this, heard her velvet voice, the depth and the haunting melody this song holds for me, I was just swept away and knew she was one of my favorites and as time has gone on, she delivers and never disappoints and comforts my soul!!!! LOVE you Adele!!!!1
What I love so much about this video is that it represents a young dream only just beginning to take shape. The fragile and uncertain dream that could have easily faded. If you ever feel like your dreams are too large and impossible to achieve just watch this video of a 19 year old Adele.
I remember sat doing uni work and listening to this on the Radio at the time. Dumb struck then and dumb struck still at how amazing she sings and how great this song is! Man I miss home and old friends!
This and Chasing Pavement are when I discovered Adele... Before she became a "thing." When you actually had to look and listen for raw talent versus the masses telling her that it's ok and she can come out and woo us. She's been at it for almost a decade and people are just getting hip.
she gives me chills, the best artist of a generation, she will mark the world for a long time, thank's to her to bring so much soul and emotion into her songs..
When people talk about raw talent.this is a unknown at the time on a rooftop raining freezing and nailing it.she wrote the song,it is not featuring someone rapping its raw talent.hometown glory.
...Hometown girl turned out to be a global success - Which she so well deserved to be :) I remember when there was just few thousand hits here for this song :)... -DD
I still remember watching this 4 years ago, remembering how I thought she would be a big singer and a huge inspiration. I'm so glad I was right, so now more people know about her and her music is getting better
people who saw her that time instantly knew that she would be a star soon. but who would have expected that she became this big. she was a beautiful blossom at the time this video was shiot. now she is one of the most beautiful roses from england, the only country where that sort of roses grow.
+tenfortunecookies She's probably the same... it's just the hair, the dresses, the noise around her name and people who push her to a place that she doesn't belong
have you listened to million yrs ago from the new album? it made me feel bad for her, and like her even more than i did when i first heard of her, its kind of a sadder version of hometown glory.
+kapamaroyGR She is far from a Diva ... have you watched any of her interviews? she still has that rusty British accent, still gets star struck when she meets famous people , she is so humble not money hungry, not churning out song after generic song to make a fast buck . Of course people's looks are going to change, when you acquire more money you take better care of yourself , this woman cannot be made to do anything, she took a hiatus because she wanted to and she returned better than ever because she wanted to.
Fun fact i saw this on much music years ago before all bom and i said to my good friend "there is a girl who sing great you need to check it out" and now he is a huge fan of her and i never listen to much of her music in a while, now im here listen this song that makes me remember my friend who i miss so much :`)
I first heard this track back in the day on the early morning MTV music countdown show. I as groggy from not much sleep but when i heardher i was captivated same with sam smith I want to visit her hometown now
