Always awkward, and unsure of herself as a child, Adèle Makéda’s beauty developed over the years. Just like the little ugly duckling in the fairy tale: she turned into a beautiful swan!
Daughter of a prominent African diplomat, the teenage Adèle was forced to leave Mademoiselle Jolie’s school in Paris, when her mother passed away. As a brilliant only child, she was soon asked to stand at her father’s side at official functions. This enabled her to learn the arts of diplomacy and negotiation early on. Clearly leading a busy life, traveling all over the world on official business, Adèle needed a vacation. So, she returned to Paris, in the hope of enjoying a glamorous break with her long-time friend Veronique Perrin. This was a pivotal moment; Adèle was completely unaware that her life was about to change forever.
Right from the time of her arrival, Adèle was caught up in the rush of a drama that had unfolded some months previously. There had been a spat between one of her former friends, the mysterious Kyori Sato, and Veronique. Kyori had been summarily dismissed, and Adèle was persuaded to become the next face of W Cosmetics, to replace the increasingly unreliable Kyori, and her frequent, unexplained absences. Adèle was hesitant at first, due to her lack of self-confidence in this particular arena. Once-unknown outside the world of international politics, she would become the toast of the modeling industry, and of European social circles. Adèle’s arrival was a blessing for W Cosmetics. The close bond that she and Veronique had shared in school, was re-established the minute they saw each other. Veronique had absolute respect for the work her friend did as a diplomatic aide, and was so grateful that Adèle agreed to join her at W.
Today, Adèle owes much of her self-esteem to Veronique, and looks up to her as a role model. Adèle is a fun-loving, but no-nonsense character. She alone knows when it’s time to force Veronique to rest, something only Adèle can accomplish.
Initially, Adèle’s father wasn’t thrilled about her new life in Paris. But now he is delighted that his daughter is truly happy where she is. Veronique and Vanessa Perrin have known Adèle Makéda for years; and, even though they have very different backgrounds, they share a bond that transcends friendships: they are soul sisters.
