As a child of divorced parents and a fully grown adult nowadays, I ONLY NOW realise the struggles my mother went through when she divorced my dad. She explained everything, every single nuance of sad, guilty, self-conscious, the whole spectrum of what it feels like to be going through a divorce and having to explain that to a child.... And tears just kept rolling down, because I ONLY NOW understood everything through her song, nearly 20 years later. This song hit me in the gut. From a person who is struggling in today's standards of society and struggling with depression and guilt for years, this song made me cry because it reminded me of my inner child and how they were so full of life.

I’m 17... I’m not a mom but this song somehow made me understand my own mother and I cried, I cried an ugly cry and I’m shaking and I’m so grateful that Adele was brave enough to share such a deep, raw and personal piece of art with us.

My daughter texted me this song. I had to replay it several times to grasp the depth of it. It captivated me. For days, I listened to the words until I had cried all I could. My daughter sat with me watching me cry. I wanted to cry harder but didn't want to upset her. I married too young to a man incapable of being a husband and father, it turns out. The profound guilt I carry for making a poor choice that has impacted my child is super heavy. And this song captured all of that pain within three minutes.

I’m a recovering opioid addict and a single mom. I got clean so I could give my son the life he deserves. This song takes me back to that first month clean, feeling like I was a terrible mother and I had ruined everything. One of the counselors in my outpatient group said to me, “You’re not a bad mother. You just made some really bad choices. But, it’s not too late to fix it.” I’ll be 2 years clean in March, 4 days before my sons 3rd birthday. This song hit me so hard. Not only personally but emotionally and mentally. I was diagnosed with autism when I was twelve years old, as soon as my father found out that I was in-fact autistic he immediately wanted to put me into foster care. I never really had the father and son relationship that I thought I would with him. He used to go fishing a lot and even before I was diagnosed with autism he always seemed like he never really wanted me around, he made it seem like I was the mistake that he wish would have never happened. Unfortunately, he continues to not talk to me, not acknowledge that I'm around, his lack of "being a father" to me has hurt me so bad, that now it's at the point where I think maybe I would've been better off in a foster home. Even if I had someone that would have fostered me and made me feel like I belong, made me feel worthy of myself. Just to have that father figure in my life that my own father can't give to me, whether he's scared, mad, sad. I feel like he could care less about the fact that this is reality, this is life and no matter how much he tries to get rid of me, at the end of the day he is still my biological father. I doubt anyone will see this post but if you do, I thank you for taking the time to read this as I have been holding in how I truly feel for years now. I don't feel safe around my dad, I don't feel loved by my dad, I don't feel wanted by my own dad and it hurts, it really and truly does hurt. I just don't know what to do anymore other than hide my emotions from him and just carry on with my life whether or not he will be there for me in the future. I can't do this on my own much longer, I feel like I am stranded in the ocean and there's no way to get to the shore without getting trapped in another hurricane. It takes a lot for me to actually be able to sit here and type out how I really feel, but I am glad I did because I don't want others to have to go through what I've been through, and if you are going through the same or have been through the same type of situation as myself, then I congratulate you on how far you have come.

This song is not only for single mothers who deal with the bad part of motherhood, but for the children of these women as well. Mine was a single mother, and she always considered me guilty for never having worked out in another relationship. It's really hard to try to have a life with someone when you already have a child. This song makes me understand a little on her side, but it hurts me in a very specific place, because other people around me love me more. Nothing is more precious to a child than the love and dedication of a mother. A demonstration of affection and that cares, is more important than a complaint about such behavior.

My mother was a single mother of 3. We struggled. She was and still is a fierce protector. She provided a safe, loving and accepting home for us despite the hardships she faced as a mother. I would hear her cry in her room alone at night! I would sneak in and cuddle her. She sacrificed so much for our tiny little lives. Today we are 3 strong, smart, well rounded adults who are doing exceptionally well despite our childhood. I owe her everything. I’m eternally grateful for her love!

i got diagnosed with bipolar at 15 and my episodes are getting way more worse as I grow older, and they are much longer. I am 19 now, off meds. I try to keep it a secret in front of my family that I struggle so much, they misunderstand so much of me. I havent slept in a day and properly month i havent eaten for two days and i dont remember most of the past month. I lost weight i didnt notice and I did stuff I couldnt control. I am constantly burning out on adrenaline, and im uncontrollably shaking. This song soothed my soul for the first time in months and my inner child is finally getting heard. I am so tired. This is incredible. This song is so important for me. I never experienced such a love from any of my parents. My parents are divorced, they just left me alone when I was 12/13 because they were mad at each other. When I listen to this song I just feel love. I feel home. This is weird but I like this feeling.
