My Knights of the Realm failed their restrain roll every time I needed them to hold so I could charge on my following turn which is why they remained blunted. My Grail Knights with a Grail Paladin not doing anything to the Chaos Lord on the dragon really hurt and basically that was the game. Good times against Blue and a great game. Tons of fun at Adepticon.
Can you comment on the tactics for your sorcerer unit with frenzy banner? Is it just to give them some extra speed since they don’t get a rank bonus like that? Does frenzy actually help since they are only 4 wide?
Hi there. The frenzy banner is so that the unit doesn't tank panic/terror checks. In a marching column I don't have to make a charge move (but do have to declare if able)
I found one, finally! A battle report on YT where players are competent. I have been trying to see how the game plays by watching YT video battle reports, but so far every single one I've seen was either played pretty badly at best or just so appalingly that my WFB vet's heart broke at worst. After the last one, where a guy took a unit of trolls just to deploy them outside of generals Ld (yeah, I scrolled to the end of the video, they stayed there the entire time) I gave up. In most reports, players just shove things forward, charging at first opportunity regardless of whether it makes sense or not and they completely disregard probabilities of success when making any RNG-involving decisions. Seeing even pretty basic things like baiting a charge at a desired angle to flee and put the opponent's unit in a bad position has never happened in any of those games. This one feels actually well played by the Chaos player - redirecting, baiting enemies into overrun traps and closing them, predicting where units will end up a turn from now etc. The Dragon helps ofc, and is an "easy" button wherever it's employed, but the rest of the army seems to also be used very well. You appear to be aware of what your units can and can't achieve against a particular opponent, and use them accordingly (for example keeping your infantry back in the Bretonnia battle). Thank you for being the shining star of solid WFB gameplay on YT :) You are truly special ;)
Oh wow, thank you for the glorious comment towards my strategy and tactics! 🤘 The dragon is most definitely an easy button, but people complain there's no data so I'm going to give it to them haha
I'm through the first two games - good recaps! One thing to note - Oaken Shield is a range "Self" spell. Looks like at least in these first two games it's been cast on units without the wizard. Maybe I'm misinterpreting that, but I saw it on th dragon ogres against the TK dragon!
As a WoC player, it's sad to see that the best units are mostly non-warriors. Just curious, besides the obvious dragon, would a Beastmen army not do something similar but better? You still have your hounds, dogres and giant, the bray shaman is agruably better at zapping with the hagtree fetish, and you still have other really good units in the roster like razorgors, core chariots and ghorgons.
How are those chaff Warhounds being run as a unit? It looks like they are 2 wide, but the last model seems to not be facing the same direction as the rest of the unit. Is there a reason for that?

@@shagmetz I try to keep everything away from them so the magic missile platform and the Puppet gets full use. Basically it doesn't want to get into combat period, just bodyguard for the level 4
