You surely are the king of VS videos! Thank you for your insights with just the right amount of tec. details. I really hope I can get a proper fit in the SL2(as I did not in SL1) otherwise I might switch to the Cat

Certain shoes need alot of vs videos as there are many important comparisons to make. I really don't like overwhelming the channel with vs videos...but it jsut happened two of the most important shoes of the year (the Peg41 and SL2) came out nearly at the same time. The fit of the SL2 is very different than the SL1. It's worth a try. Oddly, I find the SL1 fits closer to the VN3 though...

It depends on what you are looking for. They are very different shoes. The SL2 is a performance trainer, that can do workouts and racing. The TS10 is a workout shoe that excels at speed work and racing (5k to half). Given the other shoes you have it seems like you need the SL2 more.

The VN3 is outstanding… but I will always pick a more minimal upper on a shoe and I really like the Adizero upper geometry… the the SL2 upper is near perfect for what I like (the Takumi Sen 10 upper is the only one better from Adizero right now).

Your videos are very informative lol forward to them. I bought the sl2 the toe box is a little narrower than the Boston 12, I'm getting a little hot spot by my big toe just before the arch in my right foot, I was able to remove the insoles quite easily just pulling on it slowly and used the insoles from the Boston but not sure if that worked on the next run as spot was still sore my socks is a little thick so I'll try a thinner socks next time.

SL2 sounds like a fun shoe at a great price, but I think I'll have to pass on it based on your description and comparison. I don't need an exciting and bouncy ride for daily training miles, and the punishing instability just doesn't sound practical for eating up miles at easy paces as a heel to midfoot striker.
@SagasuRunning
@SagasuRunning 2 месяца назад
Ya, I agree...if you are a mid to forefoot striker. 100%. You have other great options out there for that too.
@jjuel5

Do you get any issues with heel rub on the SL2? I think mine have caused a blister on my heel. I love the shoes otherwise, and got them for $90 so will probably just tape my heels going forward when I wear them. Such a great ride. Almost perfect shoe.

Nope. No rub around the ankle, from the tongue or the achilles. Zero issues.
@nickwalker8975

Brilliant comparison. I have the Velocity 3s and I think they're great, but I'm tempted by your video to now get the SL2 as an alternative especially for those runs with surges or progressive builds (although the Velocity 3 does perform well during these sessions). Unfortunately, I've already bought the Mach 6 for this purpose and I can't justify two alternatives. Do you have any thoughts on how the Adios 8 compares to the SL2? In the past, I have used the Adios 6 as do-it-all shoes and the pair I pick when I can only take one away on a trip with me (although, the Puma Deviate 2 mostly takes this role now). I'm only asking as it seems the SL2 would be the one to pick for a non-plated option from Adidas, so I'm unsure how the Adios 8 (and, more importantly, the upcoming Adios 9) could fit into a rotation given the other options in the Adizero line up.
@SagasuRunning
@SagasuRunning 2 месяца назад
The SL2 is the fast road runner than the VN3. I'm also a big fan of the Adios 8, multiple videos on this channel about it. Unlike most people last year I didn't default to the Boston 12 as a trainer, instead I used the Adios 8. I found ti great for easy running and track workouts...though I still used the VF3 for fast road running (400s/800s). However, the SL2 replaces the A8. It's the better easy shoe and better for a broader range of workouts. The torsion rod system in the A8 makes that shoe a little less "unplated", especially when the foams wear in around 100mi. Not bad, but more present than when the shoe was newer. The Adios 9 is supposvely full Lightstrike Pro, no plates...but unclear if there is a midfoot shank (I think there needs to be, but without the fingers into the forefoot). My thinking is it becomes the workout shoe in a SL2/A9/AP4 rotations, which is softer than any Adizero rotation ever but also each shoe has more overlap and range.

Thank you for making these reviews. I’m an overweight guy who recently got into running so that I can live long enough to die from something other than an obesity related illness. Maybe because of my size, I’ve found that Altra shoes have reduced/eliminated knee and hip pain while running. Have you tried Altra shoes? I’m running a 5k in September and I’m going to run in the Vanish Carbon 2. I’m curious about your opinion. Best!
@SagasuRunning
@SagasuRunning 2 месяца назад
I ran in Altras YEARS ago but no longer. They aren't want they used to be. However, if you can make the 0 drop work for you, great. The foams in the VC are supportive as well. I would look at the Puma Velocity Nitro 3 wide, while it has a higher drop than the Altras you have, the Puma's foam can withstand your weight well.
@Ginguredrunner
@Ginguredrunner 2 месяца назад
What would you suggest for someone that wants the same feel as the sl2 with a bit more stability in the back end?
@SagasuRunning
@SagasuRunning 2 месяца назад
There a tough one. The Hoka Mach 6 is the next best non-plated performance trainer…. If it fits your foot it has a similar ride and a wider heel. Other than than that isn’t alot out there. The Boston 12 is a bit similar but much firmer and plated/stiffer. Honestly the VN3 is another option… just a firmer ride….

i just not understand the "drop" in shoes meaning, i mean i understood the definition but what does its essentially meaning, how can you "feel" a xx mm drop? Maybe i never understand since i haven't been running in much shoes to feel a xxmm amount of drop. But yeah, some weird concept for me, i keep seeing people commented like "boo 10mm drop, not good bla3" and i always surprised by these kinda comments.
@SagasuRunning
@SagasuRunning 2 месяца назад
You'll eventually get used to different drops and get used to how it feels, mainly in your achilles. Also, as a forefoot striker, shoes with high drop can often shoe a little more wear on the lateral heel for me. I can't tell you the exact MM of the drop after a run but I do know what 10mm, 6.8mm and under 5mm feel like for my achilles, calves and foot strike. It just takes time to develop to frame of reference from many shoes.

I wonder about the point of a sock liner / insole in these contemporary Adizero shoes. I just got a second pair of Adios Pro 3 by mail and like the first pair I received on of the shoes didn’t have the sock liner attached. It was in the shoe and it had stickum but it was 80% loose and not aligned. I had to take it out and carefully put it back correctly. (50% of my Adios Pro 3 shoes came without the sock liner!) It’s basically a slightly puffy sticker. It seems necessary only because the strobel board is fibrous and rough. Other than providing a smooth footbed surface it doesn’t do much at all. The Kjerag just has a smooth strobel board and no insole. This seems like the logical end game.
@SagasuRunning
@SagasuRunning 2 месяца назад
The Kjerag construction is really ideal… the feel of the EExpure foam is so… so good. I’m really noticing it as of late after running in some other Nnormal shoes with removable sock liners. Some Nnormal content coming on the channel in July…. Odd on the sock liners on your AP3. I’ve never seen that issue. The two pairs of AP3s I’ve had as well as two Takumi Sens.
