DROPSET TRAINER 2 REVIEW: thatfitfriend....
I have been looking forward to the Adidas Dropset Trainer 3 for quite some time, and it does not disappoint.
Last year, the Dropset Trainer 2 was by far the biggest surprise for me out of all of my cross-training shoe reviews. And similar to most models that I love, I really hoped Adidas didn't change the Dropset Trainer 3's core DNA too much.
In this Dropset Trainer 3 overview video, I'll share some initial thoughts that I have about this shoe in the event you don't want to wait for my full review!
The midsole, outsole, and lacing system have stayed consistent in this model, all of which help this shoe excel at lifting and cross-training.
The upper, weight, and boot have all been tweaked and some of these changes are more noticeable than others.
I don't think many will find that they hinder performance by any means, but it does give this shoe a slightly different fit.
Over the next few weeks, I'll be hard at work pushing this shoe in the gym to see if I can get them to shoe durability signs nd find their weaknesses - if they have any.

Btw Jake I find these CrossFit trainers becoming popular called FETAQ AllMove 3 not sure if you have ever come across. They offer interchangeable inner soles for different CrossFit workouts which is a highlight.

Hi jake I just start researching about work out shoes and stumbled upon your videos and felt your content seemed to provide the best information about shoes. Last night i watched tons of your video and i have a question, i have a narrow feet, squat and dead lift around 150 lbs. Do some light running and basic gym exercises. No cross fit but i hit the gym 4 days a week. Do you recommend this shoe or something else. I saw your best shoe for 2024 but still not sure what shoe to pick.

Great review. Which shoes would you recommend for someone going to the gym 3 to 4 times a week and walking 5 miles a day? or if you had to recommend 2 shoes, which ones would you recommend?

Got you - What do you wear currently? Do you have any budget constraints? Adidas Rapidmove can be great if you want a budget model, Inov8 F Fly if you want a shoe for a bit more running, Dropset Trainer 3 can work but it will run a little more dense, Nano X4 can also be great but has a pretty pronounced arch! I'd start with those!

I'm glad they update the upper. Dropset 2's upper material wasn't very durable.

Yeah, that was the one problematic area I know some had with the 2s. I’m a sucker for lighter materials, but I also recognize that comes with a drawback at times

I actually like light the weight feel. I'm more nimble. I guess soon as you see heavy discounts on these trainers, the next model isn't far away?

what's the best shoe for a lot of jumping? are there any shoes with a lot of cushion in the forefoot with stability in the mid and heel? I currently have the rad one and my feet hurt like a bitch after intense jumping workouts.

Just bought Dropset 2 few days ago based on your review! 😂Will you recommend getting Dropset 3? I mostly do deadlifts, squats, hip thrust and lunges. I don’t train outdoors or do any CrossFit.

I'd rock the 2 until they break. They're great shoes and you'll be happy. No need to spend and buy more for now!

Nano X4, but if you like less arch and need more toe box room, go Dropset 3

I need some more damping since I've been training with barefoot shoes and I feel it would be better with a more robust and shock absorbing shoe. I do cross training, and general gym strong trainings. I made the mistake of walking through a puddle while wearing the dropset 2. I'm glad you called that out, it's a significant concern if you live in a wet climate and plan on wearing them outside.

Hi Jake, thanks so much for the review! Need advice - I’m looking at getting shoes for training - 99% of the time powerlifting indoors. Already have dedicated running shoes. Where I’m at, the Dropset 2’s are 40% off as they’re rolling out the 3’s. Ngl, the pink 3’s are super cute but is it worth paying full price when the 2’s are on sale? 😅 Lmk! You’re basically the only channel I watch for shoe reviews lol.

5:59 I'm Really interested in this, but since I live in England where it always rains, it seems like a no-go. :-( It's a shame as my first CrossFit shoes which I love and still occasionally use are the Adidas CrazyPower Trainers (bought 2017). I think those need to be brought back!

Question unrelated to this shoe. I’m looking to replace my Nano 9. I like the wide toe box, the 4 mm drop, the stable fit around the ankle AND that there is not a ton of arch. What shoe currently on the market of any brand or price would be a good replacement?

These could be a decent replacement, the Born Primitive Savage 1 can also be okay along with the Nano 2.0. I'd try the Dropset 3s first

I'd go Dropset 3! Won't be the best for runs over 1-2 miles, but if you're doing quicker intervals then you'll be fine!

Nano X4! They'll be a smidge more runnable. The Dropset 3 is the stronger shoe for lifting and cross-training, though.

These have a bit more bias toward weightlifting, imo. Can work great for c & j, snatches, traditional strength. Uppers feel similar regarding weight/rigidity.
