ADIDAS- Puig Samba Shoes -100 Kickflips/Wear Test 

Love to hear it! It’s especially cool when someone steps in be it any reason that doesn’t intend to skate any particular shoe I throw on. That’s always a nice change of pace, glad my rambling could be of some help 🤣 Hopefully they treat you well as well, I most CERTAINLY have to get some myself for off the board use. I bet these would really look tough in a black color way as well.

I’ve been working in them, lots of walking, they held up well enough to be worn still and not look bad. I can’t wait to full on skate them but don’t necessarily have faith in them in terms of the longevity department with how my shoes tend to wear from non stop Kickflips 😩🤣 Either way I’ll be looking to keep getting these for my personal rotation outside of reviews if they hold up well enough on looks alone. Super proper shoe. Have you skated the two shoes individually? If so which one between the two would you say you like best and this pair skates like most? I’d imagine the Puigs since it rips that Outsole and that’s a large component of it but maybe the upper is enough of the Samba so it’s hitting more like them.

@@cyberinsurgent9910 I actually just got the Puigs about two days ago so I can't make a huge amount of desicions just yet, but have been loving them so far. I was doing mostly mini ramp sessions in them and practicing cab variations on the bank at my local and obviously due to this I'm not getting a huge amount of wear and tear just yet. I never skated blazers so I wouldn't be able to compare on that front but; In terms of comparing the samba to the samba puigs: Samba uppers never really gave me huge problems when I skated them when they were 70€s back in 2019 but I'm not huge into kickflips so obviously my perception is a bit different. I would classify them as a 6 or 7 out of ten in terms of durabilty. I reckon I'll get the same longevity on the ollie spots as I did back then. Shoes like the tyshawn low and the superstars actually faired worse in terms durability for me as the sole would always come off at the ollie spot, but other people say differently so it might be due to my style of skating. The main difference (between samba and samba puig) and thing I'm most excited about is the sole. The stiif yet flexible sole feels so nice on my feet and I love the way it kind of grips on the sides of my feet. I have pretty skinny feet so this is something that is pretty rare for me. The flex in the middle but toughness in the heel that you pointed out also really works for my style of skating. The Samba OG's sole is too soft in my opinion. Great for board feel, but not neccesarilly optimal for skating. Also, I remember I would burn right through the soles of my sambas from pushing around. Theirs alot of hills in my city and the ground is super rough so if I ever had to footbreak I would really rip them up. The Samba Puigs seem tough af though. I'm excited to see how they hold up, because I think they might have the most durable soles I've seen in a shoe in a long time.

Daaaaamn, SUPER Appreciate the lengthy detailed response and transparency with your skate patterns and lack of skating said models long enough to speak with more certainty. I’m gonna have to circle into again skating each one individually but from What you said, yeah I think this combo may just be the actual best of the two. 👊🏾 This sole is proper so far, just gotta skate it more.

Oh no they’re solid as heck almost out the gate for me break in wise, I’m just garbage 🤣🤣 Nah, it may be because I do tend to like adidas and can consistently circle back to them and feel at home, that’s kind of how I feel with DGK’s, they just feel additionally comfortable as in stable if you will. Like control, balance all that some reason, even for other shoes/boards that too also feel perfectly phenomenal. I think It’s most of adidas silhouettes I vibe with. *I’m glad these were no exception since it is my first time skating either of the two it’s combined of. It’s probably me rolling out to skate and this is the warm up for the day basically as well as me hopping from another board I have because this one has that Mob grip that’s more sticky vs the blank one on the other board I’ve had like 3 weeks now of skating skating. They were GAWWWWD awful and I didn’t think I was gonna catch em but they kind of did more so the next day where I’m at the skatepark. If you see my Tyshawn II 100 Kickflip video, now that one I did have to get use to the sole and I don’t know if I did any good ones 🤣Even now I’m back to them and they’re feeling better, but still a little different. I think because I suck at thicker cupsoles when it has less board feel. Hopefully I didn’t speak too soon and I do in fact have issues with the Soles Beyond Kickflips, just because those were no issue doesn’t mean the others won’t be. I’ve actually just been wearing them to work🤣 It’s a proper ass shoe IMO. Can’t wait to hit that Pinch feel level of broken-in-ness. These Tyshawn’s refuse to lol. I haven’t grinded the Sambas yet even, maybe they are already and I don’t have to wait ? 👀

@@cyberinsurgent9910 i think you good. Everyone becomes all too human when finding their flick in a new pair of shoes. The tyshawn’s last but the sole is def too thick at times. The first and the second one are similar in that way. No joke walked in those 2 months and they were ready, proper flexible so the sole didn’t feel like too much. Feel the only problem with the Puig sole is they blow out fast. 3 weeks of sessions and you wanna start playing with insoles to thicken them. Nothing beats the toe box on sambas and the Puig sole has that perfect spot for the big ball of the foot that makes pinch so good. They are ready for all skating pretty quick for sure! Enjoy the shoes. Look forward to the next one.

Right on, appreciate it! And I really want to hop into these now to see how they hold up! Any time I get a thick Cupsole or bulky shoe I become a day one skater with the flick 💀💀That song and dance is expected but man does it suck🤣 Especially when you’ve just got comfortable with a particular trick. One of the downsides to reviewing so much shoes, even more so when I’m hoping to one every other day if there’s a bunch of new releases.

Allll bad 🤣🤣 Gotta toss some proper insoles in them then, hopefully you can get some decent use out of them still. I can’t speak for the ADV version yet either 🥺 I found the Adidas Forum 84 to rank highly in terms of comfort as well as the ones. You named, assuming you mean the businetz’s that’s don’t look like the soccer shoe? Thats the only one I had, maybe the soccer one is too though, just haven’t tried them. But those Forum 84’s did me right. The Adimatics are HIDEOUS but also offer some comfort, too bad they’re nasty bricks 🤣 The first Tyshwans hit HEAVY with the comfort, the lows get there too, shame the 2’s are mid in comparison and don’t carry over as much comfort; although again still solid enough. The outsoles feel really well but the upper collar padding isn’t it on those ones like it is for the first one.

@@cyberinsurgent9910 lol. Yeah I do find them heavy. A few models actually. I'm just finding the Busenitz more comfortable than some of the Nike Sb I used to wear. And yeah the soccer type one, pro I think? Also fit my shape foot a bit better.

Those ones have grown on me SIGNIFICANTLY to the point I wanna give them a go! Yeah the soccer ones I believe are the first ones and or for sure aren’t the other ones I’ve been skating and love. The ones I have look more like the Adi ease and what not. More bulge to the toe cap. Can’t wait to try them too, thanks for the input. Shits look clean

Forum ADV longevity wise for sureeeeee. At least on my skate patterns. The lace bed started to unstitch so damn quick vs other shoes. *now I’m 2 weeks out, I believe it did that after the first 100 Kickflips (if not it was 2 days after, 3hr sessions a day) and it’s still not flopping or posing to be an issue and that’s without shoe goo, but it IS again uplifting lmao. Since I’m not the biggest fan of bulkier shoes I love these more board feel, flick, and feel wise, but best bang for your buck is easily gonna be the the Forum 84. They’re way more stiff as well. I had the leather ones so maybe suede would be better. I don’t remember having lace bed issues too quick, but do believe one of the bottom lace tabs if I recall was getting dussssted. I’d have to swing back home to recall. Either way shoe goo is gonna make Much of this a wash imo and you won’t have to worry too too much and or if you don’t incessantly Kickflip like me.

I haven’t noticed irl in my small bubble but seen one of the Google suggestive questions that pop up as you scroll the results of “Adidas Samba” So hopefully the Hype goes down at some point but it likely won’t 😑 The drop down ledger of “commonly asked question” read “Why are adidas Samba so popular” and I didn’t even search that🫠 So that means the Samba in general has trendtasssssitttty to it meaning even more people are wearing it outside of the small world of skating, IN addition to skating 🫠 Unless you meant in general, not so much in skating but either way that creates the same effect of legit everyone having them and WORSE since the world in general is infinitely bigger than skating. It’s like when Janoskis went trendy even outside of skating or The Vans classics was it? And so on and so forth.. Chuck Taylor’s too. Plus when it comes to Nike and Adidas and other major companies, they literally take pre-existing successful models that they know are trendy or widely popular and just smack the skateboarding branding on it because it’s going to sell regardless be it from skaters or not. It’s less risky than creating something new that they don’t know if there’s going to be a market for and we often get nothing new and it’s all boring shit or mid shit. Kind of like a lot of Hollywood going for just box office smashes vs trying more shit. It’s actually insane how many times I go to look up a shoe I’m reviewing for skating and see it been existed for DECADES to the point now I just assume it already has if it’s from a major brand. For me this was me wanting a Dodge charger, I SWEAR before it became the NPC car to have several times over. *And then the most recent popularity boom is the Hellcat Trend era, once that exploded I can’t even. When that shit became the Hoods go-to/ stereotype It’s super everywhere 💀💀 I don’t even know what a hellcat is whatsoever so was on it before that became popular and just liked the look some reason, almost naturallllly 🕵🏿‍♂️🤣 I got in the back of one and it was pure ass and cramped, maybe because it was a police car? Either way I long started to hate them and value space so at this point I’m closer to a SUV kind of loser. Then out of nowhere Cops where I’m at got em so everyone has them/ you nonstop see them and it got borrrring then that Hellcat wave hit after cops got em. Then once you notice a pattern you start to see it everywhere so EVERYONE has them “now” but really you’re just looking out for it more many times vs “X” thing actually happening more. I notice this with every car I start to want or hate thus start to notice it more and can’t unsee them. Like PT Cruisiers, now I barely see those monstrosities 🙏🏾 “The Baader-Meinhof effect” or Frequency Illusion.

@@cyberinsurgent9910 Nike sb is the only non core skate shoe brand that makes brand new models from the ground up. That’s why I like Nike. Adidas is so lazy with their shoes. All of their skate shoes are just old models like you said. At least the sb dunk is significantly improved from a regular dunk.

I think they learned too early on from the Janoski, from the doc I watched a few years ago apparently they super FOUGHT with him and the way he wanted to make the shoe look. Hopefully there that made them take bigger leaps. These PS8 seem to be pretty unique as well, I’m just not going for that darn price though outside of review videos. Once they go on sale depending on how they skate maybe they’re be one of the many worth it! Can’t wait to skate them long term now. First pair I got was size 8, I wear 11🫠 I’m not gonna destroy my ish trying to skate those so grabbed the black ones when they came out recently

I just skated them in my size this time and MANNN that tech is hitting on the PS8 so far. The outsole is super responsive, supportive, and has bounce to it making it a bit soft to the step. It’s feeling super great thus far, but damn sure not gonna be $120’s worth of greatness 🫠 I’m gonna break it in hopefully now and it’s not too chaotic or chaotic at all. It does highly look like a running show from the POV look down view but is skating like a skate shoe from the limited experience I’ve had thus far.

Damn, I’m under a rock, someone else just mentioned this too💀💀 I don’t see it in my very small, very limited anecdotal experience, but that’s just that, small, anecdotal, and irrelevant to the broader worldview of things. As I began researching for the review both shoes individually to see what they have and what they lose when combined/ what they take from each shoe and don’t from the other, me just searching Samba had the suggestive questions drop tab that shows the most commonly asked question is “Why are Adidas Sambas so popular” 🫠💀💀 Did they suddenly boost again in popularity or have they steady just been that way still? Did that Ice Spice Latte or darn Cardi B Bust ass in them or something? Did that Billie Eyelash Qeeeeeeheef in them or some shit, what’s goin in here, was it that damn TikTok, whichever Paul brother that one is-👴🏾 Maybe these will Spice it up enough and you can be king NPC among the Crowd of SambaPC’s 🤣 I’m about to start seeing these all over now 😑

Yeah luckily for me no one’s rocking them like that at all, inner off the board but my skate scene is like 5-8 people 🤣🤣 Straight killers too, but many of them skate whatever.

🤦🏾‍♂️ If true, which I believe you, I just never had or seen the Samba in person that’s absurd smh… even more so if the Puigs have them 🤣💀 Maybe they don’t, hopefully then it at least is still DUMB but shows why they didn’t have it since they took the tongue of the Puigs (at least I’m guessing they did, I’d have to double check) and that one doesn’t have them. Which is gonna be a disappointment if they don’t once I work my way over to skating them. Yeah it’s super easy to NOT mess up and just have them there🤣🤣 Especially for skate versions of shoes. It’s such a little thing that’s easily controlled for that has a MASSIVE impact for many. It’s such an unnecessary base to not cover from what I know. Maybe they will in future models or colors fingers crossed. I still love them though 🤣Just a minor rant. I stay in adidas when I can.

The BLASPHEMOUS-BLAS-BLASPHEMY-BLAS-BLASPHEMITIOUS-BL.. now I’m just making up words 🫠 I don’t like the simplicity to price ratio of many shoes, but then don’t like when they do stuff like the PS8 safari memes or the Adidas Adimatic shoes, no matter the color way for that one 🤣 I like that black white Grey color mostly, the MOST NPC colors, even the Nora’s with the similar color way minus the brown outsole.
