We visit the Five Ponds Wilderness in the Adirondack State Park. Bushwhack to remote lakes and mountains. Fly-fish for native brook trout. See loons, osprey, beaver and deer. Saw plenty of moose sign but the beast still evades us... Explore some of the remote lean-to's, waterfalls and creeks. Enjoy the sounds of peepers and loons at night. Canoe repair and delicious camp meals with fiddleheads! Join us on the carefree highway!

He passed away just before this trip. We had to honor him!

Thanks for the fun video; what an awesome trip. I've been to most of the places you visited, but hiking there instead of canoeing (still haven't made it up Sitz Mountain yet). Visited Sitz Pond, Sand Lake and Wolf Pond this year. Sand Lake is one of my favorite places, since I was there when the '95 storm went through. Thanks again for sharing!

Thanks for watching! Must have been a crazy night in 1995! We watched several of your videos preparing for this trip. Keep them coming!

All I can say is WOW!!! You guys are amazing!! I have long known about a western entry into Sand Lake but I didn't know there was an inviting bridge over the Oswegatchi to go along with it!! You got me psyched and I found it on Google Earth and tagged it!!! That was one LOONNGGG drive on the Bear Pond Road!!! I have looked at this for years and planned on a couple trips back through Watsons Triangle, one to the Great Corner and the other into Sand Lake. NEVER once did I ever dream about carrying a canoe too!!! Awesome trip guys!!! Jeff

Thank you for the comment! We have been to some pretty secluded spots but nothing like this. Hoping to find some more hidden gems this year.

Oh man, the Real World has it all! Loons, trout, osprey, moose [poop] and fun under the milky way. All with the added bonus of zero mobile service. Those classic Sheoga Canoe Works skin on frame boats lead to excellent adventures on the carefree highway.

I'm pretty sure that "beaver" you saw around 22:50 was actually an otter.

I love the trip and the video. But there is one glaring mistake you made that I take issue with. Gordon Lightfoot does not write a bad lyric. Some things, you just don't mess with. ;)

Careful, there are dangerous creatures in those remote parts that the forest service lies to the public about

@@wildernessoutreach2 David Paulides is a retired police officer from Montana who created missing 411 trying to expose the forest service for covering up all the missing people from our national parks nationwide. Also, a retired sheriff from northern Adirondacks is all over this as well. If I didn't run into them in the Adirondack wilderness, I would never have believed they existed. You will probably dismiss this as bs and I wouldn't blame you because I would have thought the same way.

@Mike.The.Jeweler The Adirondacks are much more than just the High Peaks region. Good luck on your bear hunt

@wildernessoutreach2 Yah I know I live here, but when people think the "Adirondack mountain range" they typically don't think of a swampy plateau with a handful of man-made lakes haha
@freeheel748

A handful? The swampy plateau is surrounded by mountains. You're quite cynical.
