I was really surprised when I saw this tool. It was created by National, now Panasonic. It looks new, but it does not work. Its battery is dead, and the internal mechanics are stuck. The reason they stopped using it is because it runs on NiMH batteries, while now they use Lithium batteries. In this video you'll see I changed the battery from NiMH to lithium, disassemble, clearing, assemble and testing.

So very well done. No unnecessary music or mindless repetitive chatter. Excellent camera work, parts cleaning and assembly. I wish I had access to that spot welder and those batteries and circuit boards. We know how to solder. Can I send you some small Makita drills to convert to Li Ion?

Those VTC6 18650 cells what he used are counterfeit. Original VTC6 battery has 3rd line whitch says Murata INR19/66. You can find those cells in all major chinese sites like aliexpress.

If you are using vaseline as a grease it will melt at 99F and not work.

its not actually there. it's a dummy spacer to accommodate the battery pack/tool connector.

You don’t want too much grease because it could be too thick and the drill won’t run as smooth but you still want to put a generous amount on, if not the gears and inner pets will wear faster

Cool video, I have a question. Can a ryobi 7.2 volt battery be repurposed to a higher voltage Li-ion like you did in this video? I have a older ryobi driver drill 7.2 volt and the battery is no good anymore. It won't charge at all.
