Great vid.Concise explanations, no time wasting while we watch you do irrelevant stuff like remove and replace covers etc. And no over explaining as if you are talking to a 5 year old. A 3 minute vid with 3 minutes of information, very rare.

Super helpful. I'd just gotten a different harmonica since I'm still a beginner and just get what's cheap, but it just wasn't the same (or as good) as my first one. Watched this and got a mini screwdriver set and now it's working great again. Thanks!
On my Hohner D blues harp the 4th draw reed was stuck. I checked youtube on a whim before driving 20 miles to the nearest music store and forking out $50 for new harp. You saved me time and $$ as the instrument is now working fine, following your suggestions. Interesting in when I took the plates off the gunk on the brass was pretty funky and wonder how best to clean that up without harming the reeds. Anyway, awesome help video thank you very much. Hopefully the "fix" will last and last and last, these things are very expensive to replace!
Hey Greg, what does it mean if a reed doesn’t “plink”? I blew out the 5th hole C draw reed, it’s tuning A#. All the other reeds “plink” except this one. Good thing I have 2 backup G harps from you! I thought I could fix it instead of sending it to you to adjust one reed.

I have 2 draw on a low C Seydel brass reed. Seems to move fine with small screwdriver. Magnified inspection looks good. Flicked the read up adjusted the gap both ways. I don’t want to break the reed. Slid a 0.05 flat feeler gauge down the side of the reed. It’s never been good I just avoided the 2 draw. Now I use 2 draw all the time. Frustrating. Thanks for the video
I have a strange situation in which i can't seem to play the draw (an 8 draw on a D harp) AT ALL on lip pursing, although i can do all the other notes, even the high ones. But it's not broken because it plays OK if i tongue block across either the 8-9 (9 blocked) or the 7-8 (7 blocked). Or even if i use my fingers to block both 7 and 9 and inhale! Can you suggest what i'm doing wrong? By the way, this isn't a Seydel, but i have just bought my first Seydel and really like it!
That's probably a technique issue. Try playing that note as softly as possible and then tilt the harp slightly upward and then downward. Very relaxed and very soft. I bet it will play. Once you get it spend some time playing that note in long sustained notes for like 20 or 30 seconds so you can train the muscles in your mouth. Lastly, I would suggest private lessons. Why not experience the full joy of making music? Let me know if a new Seydel is in your future.
Greg, Good vid. 7th hole on my Lee Oskar "C" will not draw. Opened it up and the reed was discolored.and slightly corroded. Thought I'd give it a vinegar bath but the center screw holding the blow reed was put on by King Kong. Tried every small phillips screw driver ever made with no luck, wouldn't budge. Even with latex and rubber band wrappred around the head of the phillips as an old stripped screw removal trick. That failed too. Even tried pliers, but the head of the screw is too small and flush I couldn't grab it with the tiniest needle nose pliers. Took it to a eyeglasses place and they told me, its a different kind of screw. Well, the first two identical screws easily came away with the tiniest phillips with no problems. I am ready to take this thing to a jewler. Sure hate to buy a new reed, but that wouldn't make much difference, can't get the comb separated from that damn reed anyway. Any suggestions?
I would say this operation should go into the parts bin. I think it is way too much work for little return. Get new reed plates or a new harp.. better yet, contact me and let's transition you to Seydel. Once there, you will have access to all my good customer service
Thank you for the video. I also have problems with number 8 and 9 holes where there is a metallic screech sound while drawing and sometimes blowing. What should I do? My first harmonica had similar problem, so I bought a second one. It had the similar problem too. Any suggestions what should I do? BTW I'm new to harmonica learning.
Hey there, first of all you should consider the harmonica the same way you would treat a violin or a trumpet. You should take lessons from a professional teacher in the same way you would if you bought any other musical instrument. The screech sound is a vibration that happens at the base of the reed. It is more common on cheaper harmonicas. Sometimes lowering the gap will help and sometimes improving your technique will help. Occasionally a slight amount of nail polish at the base of the reed will reduce it, as well. That should be a last resort.

Being a doctor I've a very hectic schedule ; which after this Covid 19 pandemic became all the more hectic. So that is why I resorted solely to online sources. But yeah, I'll try to get a professional teacher when I get a chance. Thanks again 😁.
@@leviathayan You don't need lessons and to fork out money for them in this day and age. There are plenty of online resources that can help you. I taught myself from online videos from Ronnie Shellist, Adam Gussow Jason Ricci. No reason you can't do likewise.
hey great video got a question I recently bought a whole set of seydel session Steel about a month ago playing the a harp and found out that the 5 draw has slipped out of tune it's almost right up there with the Five Blow I think it's went flat any way to fix that it's not blown out or anything just when I do the c major scale and I go to draw the F note it seems flat very flat and out of tune any reason why that would all of a sudden happen

I just bought a Seydel 1847 will wilde tune Harp in the key of C and my third hole draw and blow is stuck. At $106 price i would hope that wouldn't happen . Anyway it seems to be pretty common on this brand harmonica. I'll give it a try and hope for the best. Thanks for the information

Ever try understanding Comments??? output of your camera focus. and keeping harmonica still by using a simple vise so we can see what the hell you are doing.
So this is something that is very basic to playing. I would suggest that if you don’t know the difference between the blow and draw plate you probably shouldn’t be making adjustments
Another video that needs basic photo lessons. You set the camera to manual focus, then hold the item in that range. His face in focus provides zero useful info.
