Thanks for this. It's very helpful. I am new to turntables and just purchased a vintage 601. I have no clue what I am doing, but look forward to getting into it!
Excellent instructions. Leveling these 1000 series Duals with a bubble level is not critical however because the tonearms are dynamically balanced(spring loaded) Visually it would be helpful though.
Just going to be pedantic here. The 1010 and 1015 are a little different, so this is only for 1009 and 1019 turntables, but the principles obviously are the same :). The 1015 as a geared knob to adjust the wait, which in some ways is easier, but not as accurate. Thanks for a really detailed video. Still useful 10 years later :)
That spring mechanism for setting VTF is a great idea! Rather rare indeed! The Dual 1009 is a "sleeper" among vintage TT's! And it's capable of sounding quite fine, indeed! Probably best used with a low-compliance mc cartridge, like a Denon103.
Thank you for making this video! It's the most straight forward, clear and intuitive instructional that I can find! I have a 1019 and slowly learning more and more about it. I do have a question - can anyone tell me to do with the anti skate once these adjustments in the video are made? Anyone with 1019 experience able to help? Thanks!
Nice demo...clear...I have a 1209 I have a tone arm issue that does not return to its resting space...and and a more serious problem I can't figure figure out...stylus skips or loops...and the to tone arm wants to pull away from the center...
Refat Rabadi If the arm doesn't return then it's time for clean, lube and adjust. vinylengine.com has your service manual! As far as the arm moving away from the center it could mean, all things else being equal (like the leveled turntable) that the antiskating is negative. Put it in zero to start with. Good luck!
What a great video thanks for sharing. I have a 506 I e mailled another guy who had one almost like mine (a 505) & maybe you can help me the other guy has not replyed. My problem is after I balanced the tonearm when I go to put the styles pressure setting on the needle, The needle hits the lp even when the cueing lever is in the up position, I tryed to move the tonearm counterbalance back butI have no luck I even tryed to use one of those shure gages but on luck any help would be great thanks. Paul..
Help! My 1019 has slow sleep and I have lubed it. It all looks great and all works except the speed. I already tried to adjust the spindle height but I can’t anymore or else it hits the platter. Please help.
