Adjustments by material reduction:
When a patient's oral appliance causes pain in one or more areas of the oral cavity, adjustments are possible by removing material.
Referring to the patient's reports of discomfort, locate the area on the oral appliance that needs to be modified. Using the carbide bur, gently remove thin layers of nylon at the targeted areas.
