If there is one takeaway from this video that will be infinitely useful to me it's this, 23:05 lol. This has probably been part of windows since window 95 but I'm just now learning about it!
Many thanks for the great explanation! I'll need to do this for 18 domains to 1 forest. And this video will help me to prepare and plan the whole process. Greetings from Brazil!
Thank you so much! This video really helped me with the server migration I was doing. The Microsoft documentation was a bit much. The instructions in this video were all clear, the steps were to the point, and the examples were spot on!
Thanks for making this video. It's clearly a lot of work to set up your demo systems, users, and groups, and I appreciate you doing that just for youtube users.
Very nice video for the people who are planning for migration, i need below clarification as i am planning to migrate from 2003 to 2016 1. what should be the Domian and forest function level in both. 2. After password export, can user use same password. 3. Is it mandatory to install ADMT and SQL on both DC's 4. Things to know before migrating Mac devices.
Hi Vikas, that's all I need for my school project !!! A big thank you for this demo and for the time spent to explain very clearly the use of this software. I gladly offer you my thumb in the air :)
Good job Vikas. I appreciate your patience and you didn't skip any step. If possible can you share the steps on how to verify users' permissions after migration? Overall good job !!
Hi Vikas, that is very helpfull LAB... Did you sussecfull migration with win 10 between AD 2012 and AD 2016..Could you please to share your experiences
Hi, very good explained Video!! Can I install the ADMT on a member server and not on the DC? I think it will be good idea to add trust removal and ADMT uninstall procedure including DNS cleanup in order to make the environment clean with no leftovers of the migration process what do you think?
thank you for the video. quick question just to cover my basis. Does the source target being a single-label domain (non-FQDN) create an issue if the target domain is FQDN with this migration method you've shared? Again thanks so much!
Hi Vikas, Thanks for the detailed explanation with step by step. MS actually doesn't recommend to Install SQL server on a DC ?? Could you please tell me again why we installed SQL Express during this migration activity & is it required mandatory here..
Thanks glad to know you like it.... This is not SQL Server Full installation... Microsoft recommend to install ADMT Tool on any Writable DC and you must need to install SQL Expres before ADMT Installation
Hello, great video, one question still - the user password was also migrated and therefore why at the end of the video when user had to connect to new migrated computer he was prompted to change his password?
Attention!! It's important to run ADM Password Migration DLL from CMD with administrator rights. Without doing so, you get a password error message. Without doing so, you get a password error message. Cheers!
Hi Vikas, Thank you for the video. Just a question, when you migrate the groups does the group membership of the users in the existing domain disappear? or the users will still have the group membership intact in the existing environment.
Fantastic video. I have 14000 users in Old AD Domain and want to move this to AD to another domain. Can we use ADMT tool to migrate 14000 users ? Is there any best practice to migrate 14000 users ? Please help me.
Thank very helpful video please correct in hostname - Host Name- O-Win2K12-DC01 OS - Windows Server 2012 R2 IP Address - 192.168.1.202 In the First slide, it should be Host Name- O-Win2K12-DC02
Thank you very much for taking the time to produce this video. It's really good and has helped clear up a lot of my issues of getting it to work. Great Job A+++++
Hi Vikas, congrats great job with this video, extremely helpful, thanks a ton. Can I ask you to post the link for the file server migration as I am not finding it but you mentioned that should be the next video? Thanks again & all the best.
Hi Vikas, Is that possible to replicate/migrate DNS records as well? we have so many entries for root and also other zones in source DC DNS which will be really helpful to transfer them to the DC in our new forest. Thanks you very much for your great video.
welcome back g we waitng, g plz upload telnet class a to z including command name and port enable ,why we enable port what is the use of this.plz give me a videos
Sir, when we try to copy members of the groups it show under the OU instead of under the groups. Sometimes, under the ou and also under the group, what should i do?
I already migrated all and i disabled quarantine in domain trust to prevent SID filtering. Do you know how to copy SID (not SID history) to keep user profiles on his workstations active?. I mean, i wish to keep all personal config and files intact
Hi vikas I have also mail enabled users on old domain and want to move only 20 users mailbox in new forest. I installed the new exchange server in new forest. Please tell me first I move the AD users then exchange users by adding new exchange server in old exchangd DAG. Your help is appreciated.
Sir Vikas, I'm trying to migrate AD 2003 to 2012 r2, the problem is the schema master is not available anymore. Is there still a way of migrating it? Thanks!!!
Hi there. When I perform the security translation on a W10 machine and I run the agent it generates an error, do you know if the ADMT tool is compatible with W10?
What if I have the same user on the old domain as I do the new domain, would everything still work normal or would it cause conflict? Example: -Old Domain: Canada\Ironman -New Domain: USA\Ironman Will there be a conflict because the old domain has a user with the same name on the new domain? The new domain is also an email server (cloud based), so the users where created on that domain first. Then the same user was created on the old domain and added into its group policies etc. Now I want to get rid of the old domain and bring all of its users to the new domain, but since the user was created on the new domain first, I'm wondering would there be any conflict because I would be essentially migrating the same exact user name from a different domain.
What about users data in profile. like desktop, docs, favorites, downloads. i am asking because many users have bad habit to keep data on desktop. will it be accessible or domain rejoin process will create new profile folder?
Hello i have an error in the beginning of installation of admt in database selection i write .\MSSQLSERVER but there is error unable to connect i am using it on windowa server 2019
I had the same error. During the install of Express 2008 in the video he says "Select default", that will fail. IF you keep watching he installs a different way on the old DC, he installs "Named instance" with the default "SQLExpress" name. You HAVE to use that name, and you have to select "Named instance" not default. That fixed it. Then type in ".\SQLExpress", that worked. Alternatively I ended up installing Express 2005 SP3 instead and it worked as well because it uses "SQLExpress" as the name instance by default.
Its required to add new domain account and groups to source server which is already added for source domain like some group is in local admin from source domain after this same account will be aded from new domain
