Bazm e Khas presents Raag Jaijaiwanti played by Adnan Khan on sitarand accompanied by Zohaib Ahmed on tabla.
Raag Jaijaiwanti:
Raag Jaijaiwanti is a raag of Khamaj thaat, it is considered to be a creation of the divine mind of the tenth Sikh Guru - Guru Tegh Bahadur ji. According to the Guru Granth Sahib, this Raag is a mixture of two other raags - Bilaval and Sorath. This Raag has not been mentioned in any ancient Indian classical scriptures on music. It is also not mentioned in the raagmalas at the end of Granth Sahib. Although it is a very sweet and touching Raag that has a very wide public appeal, it is a very complex raag.
Raag Jaijaiwanti is performed during the first prahar of the night - from six to nine in the evening.
This baithak was held at the initiative of Ved Gupta, our founder, as a part of bazm e Khas foundation live concerts.
The idea behind this upload is to preserve this great treasure (Dharohar) of live music produced by BeK for all the music lovers and students of Hindustani music.
