Your course has really kicked up my skills a few notches! I went thru the 5 day challenge to in addition to this lovely cat today, :) thanks again Jason. Youre super for doing these free classes! I prefer self-starter style learning, studying at home is so much better than forking out tons of money to go to school, for me. Great lessons.

Hi, could you please tell me how to make the shade of eyebrows and the line inside of the ear lighter ? It keeps on being completely black and your seem more greyish. Thanks in advance!

Potentially in the Video I was using a Tinted Brush while inking - so it will look gray. We will be editing and expanding the lines and re-coloring them (maroon) so it won't matter as much. I typically wait until after expanding and editing to do any coloring of the lines.

Hey! I am using Adobe Illustrator CS5.1 and your brushes aren't working in that. Please help me through it.

First, double check that you are using the correct file if you are looking to open a brush library. Some files are the original documents that I used to install the brushes. The files should work fine in CS5. If opening the library from your brush menu doesn't work (try other files to double check) then you can watch the how to install your brushes video. Takes less than 5 minutes to install and customize your own.

Hello! Sorry to ask so many questions. I am just about done with my piece I am just wanting to color it but for some reason when I unite all my lines it makes the lines inverted sort of..? Do you know why it would do that..?

When you are uniting the shape make sure you don't have a stroke color selected. It might be automatically adding a stroke when you are uniting. Everything is already expanded correct before you unite? No stray shapes with a stroke?

What exactly does expand do? I see you doing it but I have no idea why. You've already livepainted it, I'm confused...

I think I will do a tips video on Expand and Expand Appearance, but the simplest explanation of expand appearance will be to finish an action (effect) or expand to move from strokes to shapes. After you complete the live paint select everything and expand. This will complete the live paint mode and it will allow you to move on to the next steps. We really only need to expand "object" after live paint since the brushes have already been in the previous step.

Using cc 2015. when I download the Beginner Frown Cat apg.jpg, and try to place it in AI, I get an error saying ¨Can´t finish previewing. Could not complete the requested operation¨ and the jpg will not display. I tried pressing control+y but get the same error message. Can anyone help with this problem? I can place other pictures into the same/any other AI document and they display no problem. I´ve also tried downloading the Cat Frown jpg again but still get the same error....

when I united all. and put send to back the white in the eyes didn't come out

Double check that the whites were not still grouped with the blacks of the eyes. If they are separate then the black will go behind the whites. Its probably just as fast to draw new circles then to ungroup them.

Hi I hope this isn't a stupid question but I got to.. 29:30 and I am trying to erase tiny parts but when I do it changes the entire line. How do I do what you did in your tutorial without it affecting the whole line..?

Remember to expand your lines before you use the eraser tool. You may have to hit it 2X (Expand Appearance & Expand) Otherwise the line along with the brush setting will modify if try to use the eraser tool.

hey if I draw and shade with the brush tool is it still a vector art. like can I still resize it and it doesn't change

If you draw with the brush it will be in strokes. It is still considered vector art as long as you are in illustrator. I would recommend shading or coloring areas with the blog brush tool (shift b) this will be a shape rather than a stroke. Much easier for filling larger areas or adding values.

for some reason i am not able to select 'expand' on the 'BRUSHES COPY' Layer.. could you help me out?

click the circle on the layer and see if expand or expand appearance highlights back up. It might just be you don't have anything selected

I got it thanks. Now im struggling with the halftone in the ears. I was able to add a -90 gradient, but when I select the halftone that was also applied on the face, it put the effect on the entire inner ear.

you might need to adjust the slider or the gradient tool to shorten up the gradient length. Gradient tool is on the left toolbar. if you have your ear selected a slider line will appear and you can adjust the length of it

Explain where you are when you are downloading? Are you in the Dropbox folder? Have you already done the direct download & extracted the zipped folder? Getting Resources: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZKPxugvB0pM.html

i have done direct downloading but wen it gets to 250mb it cancels i have done it 5 times now, thats why i asked about the file size

You can download each folder individually if it is crashing at 250MB. Click into each folder and then click the direct download. You can also download files individually as you need them. Full Folder Zipped 317MB Full Folder Unzipped 403MB
