German baroque keyboard tradition with romantic sensibility....(Schumann's touch here and there....especially in the allemande...)

Certi assunti della scrittura pianistica, disposti in modalità pseudo- barocca depistano in modo suggestivo l' ascoltatore, creando l' idea, la sensazione di una Suite in stile, ma questa è musica schiettamente romantica, che gioca amabilmente con gli stilemi antichi, per cercare nuove vie, tra cui una certa purificazione dalle sonorità massive o morbidamente pedalizzate del romanticismo... Verso una prima coscienza della modernità, dissimulata sotto il gioco del patchwork stilistico, o del ricalco puro. Molta angoscia latente pervade queste danze, che non virano a tonalità maggiori nemmeno nella corrente, ad esempio. Bella proposta e piacevolissima esecuzione. Grazie molte!

Harold Truscott wrote of the Deutsche Suite as follows: “It is superbly conceived and carried out, utilising all the suggestion of the seventeenth-century suite combined with nineteenth-century harmony and piano keyboard mastery. It is no harpsichord work but one fully conceived for the piano ... Jensen’s stroke of genius in uniting style and content”.
