Just like the Jewish high holidays, it is a period of reflection and repentance. based on my research and investigating the Orthodox church is closest to what the earliest followers of Christ believed and practice and in fact closer to judaism in those days than of today, for instance there are priests, incense, altars, and the Church today is a continuation of the Israel of old, even called the New Israel and there is a new covenant. Best rendition of Adon HaSelichot I've heard so far. Although I am (for the most part) Christian, this DOES elicit the Lord's holiness in me. Also, this prayer has quite a powerful message about repentance and how our Creator (Elohim)is a truly just being. Shalom!

Every year, I came back to this video during the start of Elul, in which Selichot also starts (according to Sephardic tradition). I might not a Jew but I join with the Jewish people in asking forgiveness and seeking Gd during the 40 days
