Adonis: The Man Disputed by Two Goddesses - Greek Mythology in Comics - See U in History Art: Kaji Pato #GreekMythology #Mythology #SeeUinHistory #History #MythologyExplained
Jeez poor guy, dealing with two normal obsessed women is one thing, but two obsessed goddesses is way worse especially if there already dating someone like Ares.
He was getting passed around by some of the male gods also since he had a androgynous approach. The moment they found him he was trapped. In other version the reason Persephone was in love with him was because she was his foster mother and Aphrodite who cursed his mom found him as a baby and eventually came back to see how he grown and then fell for him.
Aphrodite: “Return my lover to me Hades!” Hades: “No. You can’t just step into my realm without permission and start demanding the unreasonable!” Persephone: “Yeah! He’s not your lover anyway. He’s mine.” Aphrodite: “What?” Hades: “What?” Poor Hades, the man was just doing his job…
It's funny how Adonis was a hunter, and yet Artemis, the goddess of the hunt, was one of the surprisingly few gods to not be present in the story at all.
Well at least there isn't any gruesome ending. Because of the nature of these myths I was half expecting Adonis to be ripped from both arms. I'm happy that it is a kinda good ending for him.
so wait, technically speaking, Adonis only got the love of these 2 goddesses because of a arrow that made them love him, in all honesty, while I know the legend well enough, that's always been my though, also for this man, the attention of one god can spell disaster, but 2, and subsequently more, this guy was doomed at that moment
Little did they know that Adonis used be known as Jeffery, a socially awkward nerd who can't talk to girls and play video games 10 hours a day.... It was when he start doing the hard work especially when he dont feels like it, he became Adonis
Tell this Myth to all the people that keeps saying Persephone is loyal to Hades. Lots of people keeps saying Hades and Persephone is the only relationship that's different from the rest of the family. Show this to them.
Well TBH, if not for Eros, there is a possibility she would have been loyal to Hades but I get your point. Greek mythology has a lot of different accounts of events.
Depend how you read it. Persephone was like an Mother to Adonis so it is more the Site of her Mother Demeter that is showing... And we don't really know much about the love-life of Hades and Persephone. Can be he like it to share his wife? I mean both of his brothers did habe male lovers too.
@@thalmoragent9344 She still CHOSE to pursue that love knowing she is already married. the questions are: did she think about Hades when she felt the love for Adonis?, did she ever attempted to turn away from that love? or even seek help get rid of the love? and Did persephone ever told her husband that she cheated on him and say it was Eros fault?.
6 gods/goddesses(not counting Hermes, because he was just doing his job) involving themselves in the life and death of a single mortal man just because he looked good, who had no power or choice in any of this. Pretty much sums up just how bad the Ancient Greek Gods were.
Tate better start taking notes. Also the fact Persophone wasnt actually in love with Adonis until getting the Arrow rather being happy for Aphrodite is a true friend right there.
the fact that my father used to know this guy is pretty much all the explanation I need to know about hunting being a key factor in the family experience.
A classmate of mine was named adonis. Coincidentally the 2nd place of our 1st periodical test had a crush on him, the class president had a crush on him, heck the teacher mentioned he held hands with his friend and seatmate and the fact they both blushed a bit of probably embarrassment. His friend and seatmate moved to sports class though, and he moved to the class of the newest teacher. Edit : his friend and seatmate was a guy, the class president and the seatmate were no longer 'shipped' or have 'crushes' on Adonis. But the 2nd place of our 1st periodical test STILL likes the dude. Edit II: 2nd placer likes both new kid and Adonis now
@@colinpreston80 Well, Reggie IS that one friend that no one likes, and Ares is not well liked by anyone who isn't Aphrodite or the Spartans, so possibly.
Persephone Legit got the most loyal husband between the gods no need to talk about Zeus and Poseidon has multiple affairs at some point and Persephone still cheated
@@НикитаНиколин-ъ4в where did you hear that from? is there an actual Myth that says Pesephone got hit by Eros arrows to fall for Adonis. Seriously i keep hearing and reading that she was truly loyal to her husband and no one else. Then i keep seeing this that contradicts her loyalty.
I feel so bad for this dude, two crazy goddesses fighting over him. And the dude unintentionally made enemies with Hades and Ares, who I will remind you, aren’t the type of people you want to be beefing with.
Imagine that Aphrodite extinguished love between Hades and Persephone and made their marriage unbearable. Oh wait she did it and that was a short fracture of Aphrodite's power. What if Aphrodite would've refused Zeus 's idea and kept love extinguished forever? Nobody can command the goddess of love on how to use her power.
I vividly recall one myth where even Zeus was restrained by other Olympians. If all other gods got fed with Zeus then I doubt Aphrodite would fare any better.
@@wankingmiracle7470Aphrodite with a single look can make anyone falls under her spell. I don't think Zeus would dare to anger her since she has the power over love. According to Hesiod, Aphrodite was the daughter of the two primordial gods, sky (Uranus) and sea (Pontus) if we are talking about her origins. Zeus refused to choose between Hera, Athena and Aphrodite because he knew that Aphrodite cursed so many gods and mortals who insulted her, Athena woul've refused to conquer her father's enemies and Hera has angry issues.
@@wankingmiracle7470 is there a passage that denies her powers and influence? Her power doesn't affect Athena, Hestia and Artemis because of their vow of chastity, the vow Aphrodite was forced to respect. Homer, Iliad 14. 159 & 187 ff (trans. Lattimore) (Greek epic C8th B.C.) : "She called aside Aphrodite to come away from the rest of the gods, and spoke a word to her : ‘. . . Give me loveliness and desirability, graces with which you overwhelm mortal men, and all the immortals."
One of the few Greek myths I've never read or heard off. What it's history? we're about is this myth mostly told in ancient Greek? What century? Wow. I must study and research this tell. Well done. There are only a few story that not many people who are into Greek myths know. I bet this one of them.. .like before the 1st gods and goddess, out of Cheos, a female and a snake came out 1st and created gaia, nyx, unarnus, etc.. can't remember the names of the deity,s. great show.👍😊
This reminds me of a story in the Bible where two women were fighting over a baby and to resolve the conflict a man said he would cut the child in two so they could both have it.
Idk about you all but I think if any goddess you'd fear to reject most it's probably Athena lol. Zeus is the king or sleaazebags but Athena is the queen of cold hearted vengeance. The things Athena has done in mythology over the most trivial of offenses are worse than death and if she showed up I'd probably cave into my fear do what she says lol.
Nah it's personal safety, imagine Hera's mythical rants and bickering multiplied by Afrodite not using her powers. And also none of the myriads nymphs and mortals not into Zeus's advances. It's clearly self preservation from his behalf.
WAIT a minute!! Persephone? As in Hades' WIFE Persephone?!? How did I never learn of THIS version?!? BTW Interesting Fact; it's been theorized that this is the origin of the Erymanthian Boar
The typical version is that Persephone serves as a mother figure to Adonis and Persephone as a lover. It’s similar to how Demeter and Persephone relationship was in which they only meet at certain times.
If various mythologies are any indication, if goddesses are fighting over you--run. Also, if a god (especially the ruler type) asks you out, or just starts making eyes at you--run.
It's amazing how the gods, these omnipotent beings of absolute power, have nothing better to do than mingling with the life of some random guy they happened to stumble on.
Hades: Okay. I had enough give me those arrows Eros! Eros: Why?! Hades: Aside from you making me fall in love with Persephone(thank you btw.) the amount of accidental and prankish poking you do with them creates or accompanies 10% of all Myths. Eros: what are the other 90%? Hades: Mostly my siblings.
I personally do not like this version of the story and I'm more of a fan of the older version where Aphrodite finds the orphan Adonis and gives him to Persephone to be raised in the Underworld, only for him to grow up to be a real hunk and Aphrodite wanting him back, which results in a competition between her and Persephone on who gets to keep him. The biggest and real reason why I like this version of the story more, is because it depicts Persephone as seeing Adonis more as a son rather than a secret lover. Hades and Persephone has always been the most stable couple in the Greek Pantheon and unlike every other God, they don't cheat on eachother, and the few times they did, it was either because they were tricked or pranked by other gods or entities. The newer version of the story not only depicts Persephone differently from other stories, but unlike most stories that has to do with cheating between the gods, both she and Aphrodite gets away with it. Adonis technincally isn't in the wrong in this story because let's be honest, what do you think would happen if you rejected a goddess of any kind in the Greek Pantheon?
what you say oozes down things i find interesting. where do you get these information? if you read them from some book, where ever shall i start to understand the greek's tale?
Ok first your wrong, the one in the vid is the oldest version, two on both versions Persephone still “romantically” loves Adonis because in both tales they use Eros as the default love option, instead of Mania or any other one as you depicted. And three I’m tired of people saying how “it’s the most stable couple” although hades cheated on her twice and kidnapped her forced her to be his wife? Like I know the dudes chill that still doesn’t make him a bad guy likes most gods
One day Adonis sees another guy in Olympus and asks where are the gods ? The guy answered : the air of Olympus affects your thinking Adonis leave , boy The guy was kratos
