Adoption trauma refers to the negative implications that may occur as part of the adoption process. This trauma can include the effects of early separation from biological parents, problems with attachment and bonding, grief, or the lack of stability that comes with multiple placements. Many factors influence whether adoption is traumatic or not, and there are ways to cope.
