I'm on 4mg of dexamethasone for nausea and fatigue for chemotherapy. I cannot bear chemo without it. But my moon face and a hundred other things are happening. Im on radiation too. Plus I have a huge surgery coming up in August to remove a large tumor in my leg. That gives me about 3 months to wean off dex before surgery and ending radiation all while on maintenance chemotherapy every three weeks. Thoughts?
I don't understand why i gain weight as i taper. I gain at higer doses of course but when i get below 10-5mgs, it's unbearable. After i stopped it continues and blood test show high morning corisol. I don't know what to do about that and does it ever balance? I don't feel like myself anymore 😢
I'm at 40mg and already feeling miserable every time I decrease. I decreased 5mg 4 months ago, and I'm finally starting to feel normal again. I feel dizzy, drowsy, and like I'm losing my mind. What ca I do!?
This question is a lil off from what the video is about. My question is can I continue to take my 1mg Estradiol with Prednisone Tapering? I am on 3 months 50 mg two weeks 40, 30, 20, 10 every two weeks. Thanks for your help in advance
I watched 2 different drs on utube regarding vitamin D3 20,000 i.u with 400 iu of K2.I asked my Primary care dr and she said to try it. I've been on long term prednisone for 30 years or more I recently had to go up to 60 mg for my lungs. I had already started the vitamin D3 with K2 a few weeks before I had to start tapering back down. I couldn't cut down a half a mg without having terrible joint pains and just felt awful all over. I came down from 60 to 40 after 3 days went down to 30 3 days then 25 3 days 22 3 days 20 3 days 17 which was what I was on when I increased to 60mg. I can't get over how much better it was tapering I didn't have any issues at all. I was amazed I'vecbeen going through this for years. I am still taking the vitamin D3 with K2 I didn't realize its an anti inflammatory. Good luck to you.
@@candacesoucy243 Thank you for responding. I'm taking this for a ground glass opacity in my lower left lung. I also take vitamin d 3 3000. My concern was taking the Estradiol and Prednisone together, although my Dr said to just take it 3 times a week I'm still concerned about the interaction that it may cause the prednisone side effects to heighten l
My mum was taking 40 mg prednisolone for ULCERATIVE colitis an dhas tapered and stopped taking it at 2.5 mg .it has been around 15 days and she is having Terrible depression, agitation, anger, insomnia, weakness. Also having cold and flu which is settling, had fracture humerus two months ago which is healing though. She can't sleep whole night has been taking Alprazolam/ Zolfrsh/ melatonin sos when required. She is not listening to anyone whi wants to help. Can you suggest ways to help her Do you advise antidepressant if yes which one, what dose for Joe long and how to stop it. Can she take meloset for sleep and for how long Also do you think merely restarting 2.5 mg prednisolone back cam help her and if yes how long shall it be taken and how to stop it. Thansk please help.
My mum has started to get rid of insomnia, but she is unable to eat anything, she has got appetite but in unable to eat , somehow eating food with water. So shall I start 2.5 mg for few days and then alternate day fir few days and then stop it as she eats nicely when on steroid otherwise her taste goes away inspite of hunger. Bit has sleep problem has got better after stopping the steroids.
@@swatitandon8972 unfortunately the doctor on here is not going to be able to give you a specific medical advice mean she doesn't know the whole situation. But if your mom is having really bad side effects and because she has been dependent on the Prednisone for a. Of time I personally and that's just me what go back on the 2.5 mg and go half a milligram down at a time rather than hold 2.5 mg is she going to be seeing the doctor anytime soon perhaps they can help with a better weaning plan. But yes if she's having a really bad time and feeling really sick that's concerning I will check to make sure she doesn't have a fever also. I'm just a long time patient it's the best advice I could give but there's no reason for her to suffer unnecessarily.
@Brooklyn Street Smart she is not going to any doctor, so do you advice 2.5 mg for a week then , 2mg for next then 1.5 mg then 1mg each for a week then 0.5mg for a week and then stop?
@@swatitandon8972 I can't say what's best being there could be other factors to consider. But being very slow is a safer bet. I would advise she see a Dr while doing this. Someone is prescribing the medicine so they might have a good plan on the wean down. I'm going half mg nearly a month at a time. I've been on it for two decades so I know it's dangerous for me if I jump off.
Hi Carol, hopefully you’ll be able to recover if you taper very slowly. Check out my free Taper Chart: prednisonepharmacist.com/side-effects-solutions/how-to-taper-prednisone/
@@carolcaple1207Hi carol. I have just read your comment a year on from when you posted it. I found it very interesting and wondered if you had any success reducing pred this way.? I am on 5mg for scleritis.
