English media hacks love a scapegoat. Most of us are disgusted by it mate. Declan Rice was outstanding at Arsenal this season and he was solid for England in spite of Southgate's poor tactics and formation. They'll move onto someone else tomorrow.
Maybe, we just overvalue our players because they're English? Our media puts players like Bellingham and Rice in the cateogory of players like Kroos, Busquets, Pirlo, Rodri, Dunga.....they aren't even remotely close to any of these players at all. Rice isn't even close to Makelele let alone Rodri....and this is all because English pundits, English fans, and the English Media hype everyone that's English to the moon and back. It shows our lack of international football knowledge and our typical Nationalistic tendencies to place the fantasy of an English dominated sport over the reality of a sport that has long since passed us by.
Haha some sense finally. It's proper English foolery to assume there are not 15 james maddison's in the Spanish league 😂. 'We left madders at home' yeah because he's average
Rice was 1st for balls recovered, 3rd for tackles and got an assist. But somehow he's coming under criticism when Foden finished the tournament with no goals or asissts and pundits are still crying about him being too good to drop.
The problem there is that he's been asked to do a job that he can't do, he's not a deep line playmaker or a regista, that's why arteta started playing jorginho there
@@sosolawson6587 Nothing to do with the fact we had no natural 8 after the Havertz 8 experiment failed? Rice won multiple MOTM awards as a 6 in the first half of the season
Rice is at his best when he’s just asked to be a dm. Tht job is to break up play and make the easy pass and be an extra defender when needed. England were trying to get him to play like a Rodri were you get him on the ball and dictate he does not have the passing range or the positional skills to play tht way. People need to stop putting him in the same bracket as Rodri hes a totally different player.
@@Detroiy2k was he obviously wasn't because he didn't win anything and he wasn't the best player in the champions League so facts matter he was just a good player for 2 seasons
'We should be beating Spain'..That's the problem...This is a country that edged the Swiss and could have lost against Slovakia.. Foden, Bellingham got found out at international level...No space, no time...no way...No defensive discipline either for Mainoo/Saka for the first goal which was well worked by Spain..
Jingoistic tub-thumping just because of reputation is what the majority of these young, English social media pundits are effectively paid to do, unless they are truly deluded (which I believe they are). Durham saying during final commentary that "Spain were on the ropes" repeatedly showed me and millions of others that realism, what you all see with your own eyes, really doesn't filter to the grey matter that resides between your ears. England deserved nothing; accolades, respect, applause, plaudits...nothing!! Germany should be rightly flummoxed that a team as totally devoid of a plan as England were on Sunday night could stay that close to a Spain team, a Rolls Royce of a team even with Rodri's deputy on for the second half, and believe they could win. If it had gone to extra time, does anyone believe that England would not have parked a fleet of buses in front of their "boot it long and far" goalkeeper (your man of the match, btw) and still lost before reaching your only hope of victory in the lottery that is penalties...DELUSION born out of the desperation that England deserve a trophy because they have the best individuals regardless of the superior opposition they are facing. Germany would have beaten England, as would the French, because they are better collectively...WAKE UP, GOBBLE UP THAT HUMBLE PIE, AND READ THE SCHOOL REPORT THAT SAYS " CAN ONLY DO BETTER!!!". FOOTBALL WON ON SUNDAY...VIVA ESPAÑA 🇪🇦🇪🇦🇪🇦🇪🇦🇪🇦🇪🇦🇪🇦
@@mf289 Not much. Difficult to play there's no one behind you capable of playing a forward pass. All England's best periods of sustained play came when we managed to get Foden on the ball.
@@KevinSheedy10 no foden was anonymous the entire tournament other then the Holland game. Was a disgrace he kept starting. Rice carried the whole midfield, didn’t even have a consistent partner. Stop making excuses for Phil, such a pep darling.
Declan Rice had more shots in the tournament than Harry Kane. To pass forward the players in front have to create space and move. This is where Mr half turn specialist Foden was supposed to aid him!!!
Speak to most Arsenal fans and they think 100mil for Rice turned out to be a bargain. Man of the match performances nearly every week so not sure how he can be called out for his performances for his club. As for England, barely anyone came out of that tournament with heads held high.
It's hilarious how just a month or so ago it was widely accepted and agreed that Rice has been a undeniable success at Arsenal so far and nobody even mentioned the £100m price tag as a means to criticise him as he was clearly one of their best players last season. He helped solidify their defence into the best in the league and also showed some great attacking qualities which led to him score some key match winning goals. Now one bad tournament amongst many other under-performing players in an England shirt and suddenly he's "overrated and rubbish!!!"? 🤣
Declan Rice had most ball recoveries, most tackles, most distance covered, had an assist and whenever he used to drive the ball forward, Harry Kane was dropping as a centre back
Adrian and Rory need a reality check. Declan Rice is one of the best midfielders in the country and covered more ground in the Euro's than any other player. To criticise him is just ridiculous.
Utter rubbish about expecting the England manager to have won the CL or PL. What did the Spanish manager win before leading his team to the Euro title. What did Deschamps win as a manager before leading France to the World cup? Did Joachim Lowe win the CL before leading Germany to the World Cup? No champions league or Premier league winning manager in their prime would want to manage England. Get real.
Souness said drop unfit Kane & Foden who failed to press well. He said start form boys Ice Cole & Flash Gordon with Jude at 10 & Trent & Saka as wing backs. Jude is Bobby Charlton/Zidane hybrid & Trent is a Martin Peters/Hoddle hybrid. Build the team around em. Dont waste those huge talents. Souness is a serial winner as player & boss.
I guess you conveniently forget just how awful Souness & his assistant Dean Saunders were at Newcastle, not least the pair of them going on some work-to-rule strike in the dugout during a football match in order to force Freddie Shepherd's hand to sack them both so they would receive their full contract severance pay-out. Yeah, what an upstanding man & winner Souness was....🙄🙄🙄
Absolute nonsense to say Southgate brought players together, that's done in less than a couple of games, Ang did that in less than a month at Spurs, Southgate ran his own clique for 8 years
What a surprise, Durham and Jennings calling out an Arsenal player, the same Arsenal player who has been a revelation in his first season at the club and who was actually one of England's better performers at the Euros! It's laughable!
Declan Rice wasn't great for England but was great for his club. You can say the same about Kane, Bellingham, Foden, Stones...I would look at the England management and tactics.
Rice is amazing at what he is. A box to box midfielder. What he isn't is a technically superior ball player with range and vision. And that's why Arteta plays Jorginho or Partey next to him. Rice played fine for England. But he is what he is. And despite Mainoo's talent, he still a novice and it showed when England couldn't play their way out of trouble or maintain posession
There is no consequence for poor performances, so therefore no benefit in other players even attempting to break into the starting 11. Kane, Trippier, Foden all played poorly or had spells of playing poorly. Southgate should have been confident enough to start other players like Watkins and Palmer, otherwise what is the point in them being there.
I’m a Man United fan and I don’t think he was poor for England. He had a decent Euros. Tactics, playing it safe, Pickford booting it long when he had options short, Kane as a lone striker/the striker and too many sloppy passes screwed us over.
There aren’t any poor performances for The Arsenal - for England he was let down by having so many partners for England. Durham hates Arsenal and even his son wanted to support them as his mother does but Durham made him support City. Go make it make sense….
Ok, so if we are gonna go in on Rice, let's do the same for Foden. POTY, "clearly better than Saka" in the minds of people who don't actually watch football, yet managed no goals and no assists. He actually only has 4 goals in 41 games for England, 2 of which came against Iceland, while the other two came against Scotland and Wales. Rice wasn't at his normal level, thanks Gareth, but Foden was far, far worse.
I thought Rice had helped push Arsenal to another level last season? Were Kane, Foden, Bellingham any better then Rice performance wise at the Euros? I think this is very harsh on Rice!!
Leave Ricey alone. Some of his passes were brilliant during the tournament; during those 7 games I saw him pinpoint pass to Pickford on numerous occasions. Found Picky in acres of space did the lad.
I thought Rice had a very average tournament (at best) but he is not a deep-lying holding midfielder so it's not entirely his fault. Yet another failing by Southgate. The revisionism heaped on Southgate since he resigned is baffling.
The first comment about a balanced side over big names is spot on. It seems to be ingrained in some English people's mentality that "you can't drop Harry Kane, he's our greatest ever goalscorer" even if he's clearly struggling in every game. This is the root of our problems.
They have a go at Rice for "Bad Performances" but in the same video question why Southgate can't get the best out of Trent. Arsenal plays badly, his fault. Non Arsenal player plays badly, Southgate's fault. The lads Arsenal hate continues during the International break LOL. They LOVE a bit of clickbait
Rice is great in the prem where it’s all blood and thunder, however, when it requires technique, working in tight areas, building possession, he really isn’t fit to lace Rodri or Ruiz’s boots
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Obviously, Southgate not dropping him will have caused issues, but Harry Kane's arrogance that him at 70% fitness is better than 100% fit Toney,Watkins or Bowen has caused resentment in that squad. As captain and a 'proud Englishman' he should've been big enough to say,Im not fit,I can't play. Pure selfishness.
This pair have duffer after duffer all for clicks. Rice has been consistently brilliant for Arsenal all season. His role changed for England and he did a job without much help.
Pathetic!!!!!! Declan is a proper honest pro. He will learn from this England experience. In particular shaking the hand and helping up a cheat who blatantly fouled him on the halfway line Leave the boy alone. Future england captain we are talking about here. I'm a spurs fan BTW. Southgate picks the team and sets the tactics. I've watched loads of the Arsenal games and Dec drove that team on.. Lots of quick forward passes. Shots on target. Not giving up until the final whistle blew. IN HIS FIRST SEASON. To say he failed is an insult. Arsenal did not have a decent proven goal scorer. Another england manager will use him more effectively. Love u RoRo and Chico. xx
Problem with England fans and pundits dots is that they come in with the belief that England have better players. The world know that Rodri is better than Rice, Ruiz is better than Mainoo ( Maino will get better) and Lamal is more decisive than Saka. The DNA of England will not change because English kick and in leaves a lot to chance. Cafu recently said that playing in England makes Brazilian players think they are the best in the world but they are not. Brazil does not have a good midfield is it a confidence that all their midfield starters play in the EPL?
Declan Rice is a Premier League footballer, earns 6 figures a week, is a regular for his country and was captain of the first West Ham team to win a trophy in forever. If that's not achievement then I don't know what is?!
Ive watched a lot of talksport videos, but the title of this video is so unfair and bizzarre, whoever named this video should get fired. Saying Rice was poor for Arsenal is so out of touch with reality it's insane.
Had Luis de la Fuente won the La Liga or the Champions League? No. He'd gone through the Spanish youth teams, the players knew him and he got the best out of them and played attacking football. Hmmm. Reminds me of Lee Carsley who won the Under-21 Euros last year....against Spain. He won't get the job though, unfortunately.
Laughable that rice is the scapegoat, not a mention of foden at all and foden was far far worse than rice but you won’t hear anything about it as he doesn’t play for arsenal
That fellow lfc caller chatting a little rubbish. You have the likes of nacho rodri and carvajal playing for a coach who has honours with only the Spanish u21's how did and U19's. Not a serial winner as a manager at all. But he knows how to do his job. Very well👏🏿.
Will the English media ever stop over hyping English players! Why do we never admit that at every tournament there's another 3, 4 or 5 other top countries with equal or better players? They really do believe their own hype the likes of Durham and Jennings.
Mental we went from devlan rice pots shouts to now hes average because of one tournament where he actually played pretty well! So sick of talksport using the arsenal fanbase to generate clicks. Do they focus on golden boys kane, foden or walker who genuinely dropped stinkers? Nah the problem was the 2nd highest rated player on the team (according to sofascore and whoscored) who won the ball the most of any midfielder at the euros, covered the most ground and played the most forward passes. But theyre going to praise mainoo for what exactly? He was meant to be the creator next to rice, but literally showed nothing except denilson level just keeping the ball moving sideways and bacj. You nust know theyre pissed they cant blame saka because he clearly contributed, even though they also tried that half the tournament. It's honestly so boring and you just know if rice was still ay west ham hed be getting praised to death by the same people for the same performances
Rice is an average David Batty level midfielder that’s been hyped up to Gerrard levels, Souness has been saying all season that he should be a defender. All the English players are overhyped tbh, all surrounded by excellent foreign talent at their clubs.
He's right. Rice can't keep hold of the ball and has a very limited passing range. He dropped so deep. He might as well have played as a cb. Foden was rubbish and shouldn't have played after the first game. Same for Kane. He should've come on as a sub... The most important thing was to get the balance right, especially in midfield. And Rice and Foden shouldn't be in it if Bellingham starts.
Your basing this analyst off maybe 7 games in an international tournament. But playing for Arsenal he is very good at keeping the ball and has a solid range of passing and that includes his performance higher up the pitch for arsenal. So this idea that he has to drop Deep and plays like a CB isn't really on him its the tactics and coaching from the manager
The caller about the pre-requisites for the next England manager are nonsense. We just need an English coach who is the right fit and can setup a team to create chances. He also needs to have balls to make big decisions like dropping name players if they are not performing. Finally, they need to have the tactical awareness to change the flow of the game when it is going against us. The Spanish coach had never won any silverware before and there were similarities between him and Southgate, coming up through the national system, he just was tactically better in creating a team and method of play which allowed people to come off the bench and fit in seamlessly to the game. In theory, there is no reason whatsoever that England can't play the same attractive, winning football that Spain do and probably do it better with the players we have and that is what I would love to see.
What exactly do we want from Declan rice? For some apparently he has to be able to play 2 positions at once. Sit as a 6 and get from box to box as an 8. He has to screen the back four, break up attacks, be the engine in midfield, dictate play, be a creative genius all while his teammates stink the place out and shirk all responsibility and effort requirements. Talk about an agenda. Swap Rodri with rice in that final and Spain still win comfortably
Kane was never injured, the guy was just awful stop making excuses justifying his poor performance. It's funny how the narrative is different with Mbappe.
Only 9ne way to beat them, stop listening to their drizzle. Why would anybody listen to these critics, it's just an opinion, Rice had an amazing season last year, and had a good Euro's, lets talk about your skills at journalism, in my opinion very weak and biasse towards platers from teams you can't get past your lips.
