Adrianne Palicki (Friday Night Lights, The Orville) joins us this week to discuss her experience in this industry - evolving from wanting to escape from Toledo to now wanting to avoid the incestuous nature of comparison within Los Angeles. Adrianne remembers her first big break on Smallville and why it was uncomfortable shooting a couple scenes in particular on the hit show. We also get into her love for being on one of the top 10 series of all time - Friday Night Lights, how she’s learned to find normal after being diagnosed with Celiac disease, and why The Orville became such a problem to film.

Adrianne Palicki is seriously a must watch actress. I love her in everything I've seen her in. Smallville, Friday Night Lights, Agents of Shield, John Wick. The Orville. Loved them all and her in them. Even that Wonder Woman pilot that never aired.

It's so awesome to see her doing well. She grew up in my city. We went to the same high school, she graduated a couple of years before me. Smallville, GI Joe, John Wick, and Legion. Only to name a few. She has a good resume. I'm so happy for her.

Adrianne will always have a place in my heart as Bobbi "Mockingbird" Morse on the forever awesome Agents of SHIELD. It's a tragedy that the ABC network screwed her over with Marvel's Most Wanted. BTW, if anyone has a copy of the unaired pilot for that show... Please do the world a favour and leak it. ;)

Pilots don’t get picked up all the time. It probably wouldn’t have worked. Just like every other Marvel show they try to sell to the audience with all these obscure characters that very little people gravitate to or care about.

Hey, just wanted to say, love the insight you provide with this podcast. I loved you in Smallville (still my favorite version of Lex), and you were the reason I rented Poolhall Junkies from my local Blockbuster when I was a teen and to this day it's one of my favorite movies. Honestly, this may be out of left field but I'm going on the record here to say "Poolhall Junkies is as good as Rounders".

I loved her on Smallville and what I loved about the early seasons is how it would twist the lore a bit in a kind of Elseworlds way, so Adrianne playing "Kara"/Lindsay really felt like it was Smallville's version of Supergirl at the time. There was just something really dark about Jor-El using her as a weapon basically and I loved how Adrianne played that. Also she was so great in the Aquaman pilot! A really cool villain! I was originally bummed that didn't go forward but we got Justin on Smallville, so it didn't end that badly!

I wish they had talked about Agents of SHIELD with her. The reveal that she's a double agent when she beats up the Hydra goons & does that spin & flips her hair back is one of the best character entrances ever!

This was recorded during the SAG strike, which is why Michael could not say "Smallville" and instead refers to it as "the show where I played the bald guy." SAG actors were not allowed to promote shows during the strike.

David Faustino and Katey Sagal appeared at some con during the strike and every time they tried to talk about Married With Children they referred to it as "the dysfunctional family sitcom."

I was disappointed that her Kara was an imposter. She dazzled. I know Laura Vandervoort became a beloved cast member and brought Kara/Supergirl to life in a great way, but Adrianne's presence and performance as that version of Kara would have been amazing. As a fellow Toledoan, I've always had some hometown pride cheering for her career. I love knowing that her folks still live in town. :-) The DC-Toledo connection is good. Katie Holmes as Rachel in Batman Begins and Adrianne as Kara in Smallville. I wonder who Jamie Farr could play...

I’ve always loved this actress! First thing I ever saw her in was Friday Night Lights, and the next time I saw her was in GI Joe. Couldn’t believe how smoking hot she looked in GI Joe compared to how normal she looked on FNL. Truly started appreciating her skills as an actress on Agents of SHIELD.

i had hair for the longest time in the Army, well, regulation length hair for a guy......well, sometimes borderline regulation length. anyway, towards the end i started shaving my head. then i got out and started letting my hair grow.....and it was mostly bald and/or thin.

I did not recognize her at all, until it suddenly clicked that she is the first officer in Orville... And she has been doing so great job in that show... And just full respect for her keeping her cloths on.... Every woman should avoid productions where they require them to get naked. As in psychological tests it has been evidentially shown, when woman is seen naked, 67% of men lose all respect to that woman. And it is more sexual when women are clothed, by hiding the details but maintaining the form respectfully. So no tights or bikinis etc, just have feminist clothing. And vocal minority can disagree, but majority of men still find women with a dress and skirt, sexier than on jeans and T-shirt etc. So no need to be a nun, but no need to be in thongs either, and not to dress like men.

Yes the Smallville s3 finale Adriane appeared ❤️i mean her 🦵🔥is stunning by the way and proud of her bravery🥰👍 despite the cold 🥶and doing her thing😍😊👍 only the writing was really odd opening 🤷🏻‍♂️of with her by walking out in the woods at night without clothes on set like ⁉️I mean what??😅🤷🏻‍♂️ the idea added was weird, when walking at the Kent farm also would had freak the neighbors out!😂 when knocks at the door, when Tom opens was awkward reaction of 👩 in birth suit claims that she’s Clark’s cousin Kara from krypton (Lindsey Harrison only been brainwashed as jor-els messenger and giving out those twist of words Adrianne portrays great but the writing is plain stupid and deceiving😂 🤷🏻‍♂️ and because lex kept the obsessions in his special room I mean big deal.. which Clark hasn’t been honest with him ether, also the questions of his kryptonian parents that’s not been answered when telling to come with her.. also there was nothing bright light in cave wall😑 but only same jor-el’s void zone just as Jonathan went in😏🤷🏻‍♂️

Hearing stories about young talent being forced to be naked on set to satisfy pervert director's fetishes is infuriating. Having an all female crew for these scenes wouldn't break the bank of any Hollywood production, and would go a long way to create a more comfortable working environment.

It's always amazing how still people havea different view on what's nude and what's porn in a movie. specialy between UA and Europe. If you see a scene where someone just wears underwear they call that already naked in the US, while it's just someone in underwear in europe. As it's pretty much the same amount of clothes as people wear on a beach, just clothes for a different purpose. And if you have a top less woman in a movie, that can already be considered a "porn" in the US, while it recuires real sexual interaction, oral, vaginal or anal to be considered a porn in europe. I will never get it how violance in movies is less a problem, while at the same time nudity is considered to be the devil, in the US.
