Nobody who has any sense would tell their fighter to throw wide punches. Look at the Chad Dawson vs Andre Ward fight even though Dawson throws a good compact righ hook Andre beat him to the punch and knocked him down and hurt him with a shorter left hook on the inside of Dawson's right hook as they threw at the same time. The shorter and more compact a punch even the hook will always beat a punch that is even an inch wider
