I just received a reply from the Adult Skating Committee regarding 6.0 and IJS judging for Adult 1 thru Pre-Bronze. The response that I received is: "Thank you for reaching out with the questions about IJS and adult pre-bronze free skate. After discussing this question, we have decided to amend the ACS handbook and accept results from either judging system for all levels."

Can competitors choose the level they compete under, for Pre-Bronze Series level adult competition now?

I’m not sure I understand. You have to compete at your highest test level or 1 level higher. That has not changed. So, if you’ve passed your Adult Pre Bronze or Pre-Preliminary Free Skate test, you’d have skate at that level, or you can move up to Adult Bronze if you choose to go one level higher.

@, in other words can skaters who haven't reached test levels, (including Pre-Bronze), but are taking lessons in either Basic Skills 1-8 or Freestyle 1-6 compete and if yes, can a Basic Skills Level Skater in Basic Level 4, Skate at either the Basic 3, Basic 4, or Basic 5 level, if he/she chooses to do?

@@edaniamaldonado992 Yes, if the skater is 18 years old or older they may compete at the Adult Basic Levels, or Adult Beginner, or Adult High Beginner.

I liked your video! Thank you for all of the information. There is a lot to take in. I am thinking of competing in the 2022-23 adult season. As a child I passed my Novice free skate but obviously can't do half of what I used to be able to do because I am 52. What level would I compete at as an adult? Does USFSA still have a record of my tests available? I have been a member of USFSA as an adult but am not currently a member. Also, I have not been on the ice in about 4 years. This is just a thought process as of now. Thanks for your help!

These are great questions! US Figure Skating keeps records of test. You can email them to verify what they have on record, even if you're no longer a member - just reach out to membership services at memberservices@usfigureskating.org or give them a call to initiate the process. If they have the record of you passing your Novice FS test, according to the chart, you would compete Masters Intermediate-Novice - Age Category is Class III: 46 years through 55 year (Note: At the chief referee’s discretion, age class events with fewer than six entries may be combined, after consultation with the national vice chair for adult competitions and the chair of the competitions committee.) The requirements for Masters Intermediate-Novice are listed on the 2021-22 Adult Singles Free Skating Requirements - however, you must login to Members Only to view the chart.

Hey Amy. I love watching figure skating competition championships here and viewed Nationals to determine which athletes would compete for USA at the Olympics: but I never watched synchronized ice skating competition championships on NBC, ABC, or CBS until I started to watch ⌚ it on U- Tube, such as ISU, Synchronized Virtual, and now your channel. I noticed that the United States of America Juniors are doing well; they are in third 🥉 place internationally, but the Seniors are not in the top six or ten placement internationally. What can they do to change the trajectory from third place to first place for the Juniors, and from not place to be placed in the top six spot for the Seniors? Of course, I prefer them to win or medal, but I settle for the top four place because I believe that they can medal if they ⛸️ an artistic and technical program flawlessly, effectively executed, and effortlessly performed. Most importantly, don't leave any points of execution on the table for their competitors internationally. Are you a coach for the American synchronized ice skaters?

Hi Gail! I don't coach synchro so I can't speak toward it. My skaters test and compete as individuals.

Sorry! It's actually about a U.S. Figure Skating program, so you have to be a member of U.S. Figure Skating and compete in the US to participate in this.
